Borsini came toGreenfield in 2004 openinghis practice at its currentlocation that same year. Hesaid extensive work had to bedone on the building but thathe wanted to keep true to itsoriginal design and to pro-vide a "friendly, welcomingatmosphere."
Borsini hails from theBoston area of Massachusettsand says that he did not real-ly give this career path athought until he suffered alower back injury in 1990.He said he struggled withthis injury for some time anddid not find real relief untilvisiting a chiropractor.
That chiropractor is Dr.Candace Maddalo.

continued from Page 1Borsini said she told him
that she thought he wouldmake a great chiropractor andshe took him under her wing, even applying him to PalmerCollege of Chiropractic inDavenport, Iowa before heeven knew it. He attributesMaddalo to showing him theropes.
"I had the training of manygood physicians," saidBorsini. He added that overhis 15 years of being a chiro-practor he has "learned thatchiropractic alone is notenough, that nutrition isimportant too for optimumhealth."
Optimum health of hispatients, and an excellentquality of care is what Borsinistrives for in his practice. Hehad worked in larger cities butsaid the offices were too fast-paced adding that his practicein Greenfield has allowed himto give the kind of qualitycare he struggled to do in thelarger offices.
There is a sign hanging onthe receptionists desk in thelobby directed towards wait-ing patients that reads, "Thenature of our practice is togive our patients the utmost incare and service. Pleaseexcuse any delays. We willgive you the same carefulattention as soon as possible!"
Behind the receptionist'sdesk, sit old, glass-panedapothecary cabinets that areoriginal to the property. Inthese cabinets Borsini stockshis organic supplements sup-ply from Standard Process, asupply he says he has a hardtime keeping as they havebecome a popular purchasewith his patients.
Another set of these cabi-nets are also in Borsini's treat-ment room. And above one ofthem on the plaster wall is aframed scrawling left behindin 1949 by a previous tenantof the building.
Borsini, in recent years, has purchased part of theGossett building that is justnext door. This is now the
Health and Wellness center. Inhere, too, Borsini has keptwith the original aspects ofthe building by replicating thedesign of the original highceilings and refinishing thecreaky wood floor. A longexpanse of the original brickis also exposed highlightingthe age and antiquity of bothbuildings.
He said he originallyopened the Gossett side of hispractice as a space to holdhealth lectures. While it isstill a place just for that it hasalso evolved into a place forphysical activity as well. Theback part of the space holdselliptical machines, treadmillsand bikes, and hydraulicweight machines for Woman'sCircuit training. In the frontareas mirrored walls reflectthose using the facilities forZumba classes, NRG (a high-intensity, high-energy totalbody program) classes, andvarious dance classes.
Often a patient will bequestioned about their dietwith Borsini offering adviceon the effects. A regularpatient always gets "Dr.Borsini's lecture" about thingslike what is contained in abottle of soda and other nastybits of information. All isoffered as a way for thepatient to become aware thatwhat they do throughout theday, what they put in theirbody, has a very real and last-ing effect on their over-allhealth.
Borsini said he saw hispatients respond better totreatment when he providedthem with the "buildingblocks to be well."
Along with chiropracticservices, natural supplements, and health and wellness class-es, and as part of Borsini'scommitment to over-all wellbeing, two massage therapistsare available for appointmentsthroughout the week.
Of his advice, the services, the supplements, and theawareness provided Borsinisaid, "I wanted to do some-thing more."
To schedule an appoint-ment or for more informationcall 937-981-9000.
DEARABBY: Somefriends of ours entertain often, and ask certain guests to bringdishes for as many as 15 to 18people. This has evolved to thepoint that I am often left amessage telling me to come upwith a specific dish. Because Iam a good cook, the dishesthey request can be quite elab-orate.
Last week, two of the eightcouples invited were asked tobring a dish for dinner. As Iwas unwrapping mine, thehostess told me to mix ittogether with the other one, which had been bought at thesupermarket! She seemed putout with me when I repliedthat I had spent many hourspreparing my dish and wouldrather not combine them.
Abby, four years of this isenough for me. In the futurewhen I'm invited, I'll acceptand say that I'll contributesome wine. Period.
Please don't advise that werefuse invitations from thisfamily -- they are my hus-band's oldest friends, and ourhusbands do business together.By the way, this couple is verywealthy. They could afford tocater all of these gatherings.
-- NOT THE HIRED HELP
DEAR NOTTHEHIRED HELP: Take wineand offer no apologies. If itwas good enough for the LastSupper, it should be goodenough for your friends.
DEARABBY:My girl-friend, "Connie," and I havebeen together for 13 months. Ihave been divorced a year anda half. Connie's divorcebecame final six months ago,but she and her husband wereseparated for more than a year.
Connie's daughter, "Libby,"is being married later this year. She's a wonderful girl, and Iwish she were my daughter. Iwish her the best. My problemis, I will not be attending therehearsal dinner, the weddingor the reception. Connie saysthat if I were to show up, herex would make a scene andruin the day for Libby. He has-n't gotten on with his life, andConnie wants Libby's day tobe special.
I understand that, but I
have mixed emotions. I loveLibby very much and wouldnever do anything to hurt her,but I truly want to be a part ofConnie's and Libby's lives.
It's going to be hard for meto sit home while everyoneelse is enjoying the celebra-tion. Please give me your view.
-- LEFT OUT IN LITTLEROCK
DEAR LEFT OUT: Thelast thing you should do is sithome and brood. Make planswith friends for those two daysand keep yourself occupied. You are neither "Cinderfella"nor an outcast, and I'm sureConnie feels as bad as you thatyou'll be absent from the fes-tivities.
Connie is sacrificing herpersonal preference to ensurethat her daughter's weddinggoes as smoothly as possible. She knows what kind of ascene her ex-husband is capa-ble of. Please support her anddo not take this personally.
DEARABBY: Please set-tle a long-standing family dis-pute. Is the spider that climbedup the waterspout itsy-bitsy oreensy-weensy? -- WEBBEDIN COLUMBIA, MD.
DEARWEBBED: If thedispute is long-standing, thenit is not eensy-weensy.However, the spider thatclimbed up the waterspout wasitsy-bitsy, at least that's theway I learned it.

Squash, cabbage, potatoes, sweetcorn, tomatoes, green beans, oregano, sunflowers, and onions are growing byleaps and bounds in the raised beds atthe Ohio Veterans Home inGeorgetown, Ohio.
I arrived early on our work day sothat I could weed and spread mulchbefore the temperatures soared to the90s. When I arrived Fred Panetta andTony Figliola were already outsidechecking their gardens. Fred hasthinned out the foliage on his tomatoesand Tony pointed out some nice greentomatoes in his raised bed garden. ArtPuckett has green beans ready to pick.Paul Mitchell has harvested some cab-bage. Randall Patton’s sunflowers areenormous and blooming! The hotweather kept most of the VeteranGardeners inside that day, but it wasevident that they work diligently in thecooler mornings pulling weeds and giv-ing their gardens a good drink of water.
My tomatoes are full of blooms andI’m keeping careful watch over severalgreen tomatoes. I have been wateringthe plants every other day (at the base)and keep hoping for a rain that lasts allnight. A few of my tomato plants havelaterals/side shoots/suckers whichmight need to be pruned off to mini-mize competition with the main stemso that tomato fruit can get bigger andsweeter. Remember that suckers arethe new growth that appears in the leafaxile between the stem and a leaf. Howdo we know which tomato plantsshould be pruned?
There are three main types of toma-toes based on their growth habit. Theyare determinate, semi-determinate andindeterminate. Determinate tomatoesare relatively small, bushy and com-pact. Many of the earliest tomatoes aredeterminate types. Some examples ofthe determinate type are Early Girl andSuper Red. On the other hand, indeter-minate types are large and producetomatoes all season long. They alsoproduce a lot of suckers. Commonexamples of this type of growth habitinclude Big Beef and Big Boy. Semi-determinate types are in between thedeterminate and indeterminate types.
They produce fewer suckers than inde-terminate types. Common examples ofsemi-determinate types are Celebrityand Mountain Pride.
All tomato plants can grow perfect-ly without any pruning as long as theyare supported with stakes or cages. Ifgardeners do choose to prune, there area few guidelines. Only prune indeter-minate and semi-determinate types. Besure to check the tomato labels! Withindeterminate types, leave 2-3 suckersat the base of the plant and remove theremaining suckers. Suckers should beremoved when they are about 3-4 inch-es long. With semi-determinate types, wait until the plants are 8-10 inchestall. Remove all suckers below the firstflower cluster, except the one immedi-ately below the flower cluster. No prun-ing needs to be done with the determi-nate types. This information was pro-vided by The Buckeye Yard and GardenLine.
There are several informative FactSheets about tomatoes available on ohi-oline.osu.edu. Growing Tomatoes inthe Home Garden (Fact Sheet HYG-1624-10) provides information aboutchoosing tomato cultivars, planting,
staking or caging, watering, tomato dis-eases and some of the insects that cancause damage to your tomatoes.
Gardeners need to be watching theleaves of their tomato plants. Many ofthe leaf spot diseases mimic each otherin their early stages of development. Toprepare for “battle” you might want tolook up the following OSU ExtensionFact Sheets:
“Early Blight of Potato andTomato”, “Late Blight of Potato andTomato”, Septoria Leaf Spot ofTomato” and “Bacterial Leaf Spot,Speck and Canker of Tomato”.
I have already started to pull myfavorite fresh tomato recipes. I can’twait to pick that first ripe tomato! I loveto graze among the different tomatocages consuming the sun-warmed fruitsof my labor.
A quote from Lewis Grizzard sumsit up for me -“It’s difficult to think any-thing but pleasant thoughts while eat-ing a home grown tomato.”
Here’s hoping for a long and bounti-ful tomato season!

CELEBRITIES BORN ON THIS DAY: Fred Savage, 36; Courtney Love, 48; Tom Hanks, 56; Chris Cooper, 61.HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Don't worry about change. Sometimes force is what's needed to prog-ress. Think outside the box and be creative in your pursuits. A new direction will help you expand your mind and realize your potential. Look at your accomplishments and you will find a way to build a brighter future. Your numbers are 6, 17, 22, 28, 32, 36, 42.ARIES (March 21-April 19): Embrace a challenge and show everyone how skilled you are. Good fortune will surface through conversations with people who work in the same industry as you. A one-on-one connection you make will lead to a long-lasting relationship. TAURUS (April 20-May 20): Compromise will be needed in family matters. Concentrate on picking up information and deci-phering what will work best for you in terms of personal and professional advancement. Don't let someone from your past dis-rupt a personal relationship. GEMINI (May 21-June 20): Take on only what you know you can handle. Spreading yourself too thin will be your downfall. Baby steps and a strict budget should get you what you need to achieve your goals. Don't let jealousy lead to costly mistakes. CANCER (June 21-July 22): Beautify your surroundings, inside and out. Do something unique that will complement a relationship that means a lot to you. Develop a creative skill you can use to separate you from any competition you come up against professionally. Rely on intuition and intelligence to guide you when dealing with emotional matters. Focus on looking your best and taking advantage of opportu-nities that will enable you to advance. Love is in the stars. SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Don't lend or borrow money or possessions. The personal chang-es you make to the way you live or do things will pay off. Good fortune will result from meeting someone well-connected in an industry in which you can offer your services. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 21): Concentrate on money, contracts and legal matters. A partnership with someone who can contribute equally to a project you want to pursue will change the dynamics of your proposal and up the ante finan-cially. Progressive action will bring results. CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19): Protect your assets, your ideas and your job. Avoid dis-cussions that cannot play out in your favor. Be ready to coun-
ter any changes made that can disrupt your plans or ruin your reputation. Avoid unorthodox dealings or methods of cutting corners. AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 18): Do whatever it takes to advance mentally, financially and person-ally. The changes you make at home will enhance your love life and help you deal with anyone who has been a poor influence on you.
PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): Don't be too quick to judge others, or you may be judged harshly in return. Concentrate on self-betterment and you can avoid criticism and setbacks concerning friends, relatives and your way of life. A hobby will help ease your stress.
