Background Board of Regents passed tobacco-free
system policy in March 2014 All forms of tobacco included, including e-
cigarettes Part of national trend –
1300+ smoke-free campuses in the US Of these, 925 are tobacco-free 165+ prohibit e-cigarettes
Institute recognizes that tobacco use is a personal choice
Application Holistic approach – no in/out map All-in… no “smoking zones” Working to engage Greek community in
adopting tobacco-free policies
Enforcement “Enforcement light” – national trend Rely on signage and communication
Non-confrontational Compliance
Minor violation under General Work Rules Guidance provided for supervisors
