containing compounds can lead to methemoglobinemia. May cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea,
possibly with blood.Inhalation:Dust is irritating to the respiratory tract. May cause methemoglobinemia, cyanosis, convulsions, tachycardia, dyspnea, and death. May cause acute pulmonary edema, asphyxia, chemical
pneumonitis, and upper airway obstruction caused by edema.
Eye:Causes eye irritation. May cause conjunctivitis. May cause permanent corneal opacification.Skin:May cause severe irritation and possible burns.Chronic:May cause kidney injury. May cause methemoglobinemia, which is characterized by
chocolate-brown colored blood, headache, weakness, dizziness, breath shortness, cyanosis, rapid heart
rate, unconsciousness and possible death.Route Of En try I ndicators: INHALATION: Yes; SKIN: Yes; INGESTION: Yes
4. Fi rst Aid Measures
I ngestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Get medical aid.
Inhalation:Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. Get medical aid if cough or othersymptoms appear. DO NOT use mouth-to-mouth respiration. If breathing has ceased apply artificial
respiration using oxygen and a suitable mechanical device such as a bag and a mask.Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower
eyelids. Get medical aid.Skin:Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminatedclothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persists. Wash clothing before reuse.Notes to Physician: For methemoglobinemia, administer oxygen alone or with Methylene blue
depending on the methemoglobinemia concentration in the blood.Antidote:Methylene blue, alone or in combination with oxygen is indicated as a treatment in nitrite
induced methemoglobinemia.
5. F ir e F ighting Measures
Autoignition Temperature:Not applicable.F lash Point:Not applicable.LEL: No information available. UEL: No information available.Extinguishing Media:For small fires, use water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or chemicalfoam. Do NOT get water inside containers. Contact professional fire-fighters immediately.Extinguishing Media:For small fires, use water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide or chemical
foam. Do NOT get water inside containers. Contact professional fire-fighters immediately.Special I nformation: As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand,
MSHA/ NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. Strong oxidizer. Contact with
combustible materials may cause a fire. Use water with caution and in flooding amounts.
6. Accidental Release Measures
Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills
immediately, observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section. Avoid generating dusty
conditions. Remove all sources of ignition. Do not get water inside containers.

7. Handling and Storage
Handli ng Storage Precautions:Wash thoroughly after handling. Minimize dust generation andaccumulation. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Empty containers retain product residue,
(liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Avoid contact with clothing and other combustible
materials. Do not get on skin or in eyes. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Do not allow contact withwater. Do not store near combustible materials. Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind,or expose empty containers to heat, sparks or open flames. Keep from contact with moist air and steam.
Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Do not store near combustible materials. Store in a tightly
closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Store
protected from moisture.

Bismuth Nitrate, Pentahydrate No information found No information found
Ventil ation System:A system of local and/or general exhaust is recommended to keep employeeexposures as low as possible. Local exhaust ventilation is generally preferred because it can control
the emissions of the contaminant at its source, preventing dispersion of it into the general work area.
Please refer to the ACGIH document, Industrial Ventilation, A Manual of Recommended Practices, most recent edition, for details.Personal Respirators (NI OSH Approved):For conditions of use where exposure to the dust or mist is
apparent, a half-face dust/mist respirator may be worn. For emergencies or instances where the
exposure levels are not known, use a full-face positive-pressure, air-supplied respirator. WARNING:Air-purifying respirators do not protect workers in oxygen-deficient atmospheres.Skin Protection:Wear protective gloves and clean body-covering clothing.Eye Protection:Use chemical safety goggles. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities
in work area.
