D ear Community of St. Augustine,

MERRY CHRISTMAS! This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord; that, in the Child

Jesus, God manifested Himself as Savior of all the people of the earth. As St. Paul says in his Letter to the Ephesians, through the Gospel we all are heirs of the same promise in Jesus Christ.

This Feast celebrates the reality we live as a Catholic Church, as a Universal Church. Whether we come from America or Europe, Africa, Asia or Oceania, faith makes us brothers and sisters in the same and only God. We all must adore Him, as the Responsorial Psalm sings, and that is what the three Magi did, as today’s Gospel tells us (Mt 2:1-12).

To adore the Lord is to give Him our whole lives, to love Him with all our hearts, and with all our souls, and with all our minds and with all our strengths (Mk 12:30). Prostrate ourselves before Him and, in thanksgiving, return to Him from what He gives us: our time, talents, and treasures.

What gifts do we give to the Child Jesus? How are we adoring Him?

I am extending to you a special invitation to our party of the Three Magi from the Orient which will be held at the Parish Life Center, starting at 1:30pm. There will be a bilingual performance of the Epiphany, as well as food, gifts for the children, and many surprises. I thank everyone who helped to prepare this party, to continue to celebrate Christmas!

As a part of the preparation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our Parish, we will have our 2019 Mission, which starts this Sunday at 7:00pm. Fr. Albert MacPherson of the Augustinian Healing Ministry will be with us until Tuesday. Come and experience a spiritual renewal! If you know any people who are in need of spiritual or physical healing, invite them to join us.

May God continue to pour His blessings upon you!

¡FELIZ NAVIDAD! Este fin de semana celebramos la fiesta de la Epifanía del Señor, celebramos que en el niño Jesús,

Dios se manifestó como Salvador de todos los pueblos de la tierra. Como nos dice la lectura de la carta de San Pablo a los efesios, por el Evangelio somos herederos de la misma promesa en Jesucristo.

Esta fiesta celebra la realidad que vivimos como Iglesia Católica, como iglesia universal. Aunque seamos provenientes de América o Europa, de África, Asia u Oceanía, la fe nos hace hermanos en un mismo y único Dios. Todos tenemos que adorarlo, esto es lo que canta el Salmo Responsorial y es lo que hicieron los tres Magos de Oriente, relatado en el evangelio de hoy. (Mt 2, 1-12)

Adorar al Señor, es entregarle toda nuestra vida; amarlo con todo el corazón, y con toda el alma, y con toda nuestra mente y con todas nuestras fuerzas. (Mc 12:30) Postrarnos ante Él y devolverle en agradecimiento de lo que Él mismo nos regala: nuestro tiempo, talento y tesoro.

¿Qué regalos le damos al Niño Dios? ¿Cómo lo estamos adorando?

Les hago una invitación especial para que asistan a la Fiesta parroquial de los Tres Reyes Magos, que tendrá lugar en el Centro de Vida Parroquial, empezando a la 1:30pm. Tendremos la representación bilingüe de la Epifanía, comida, regalos para los niños y muchas sorpresas. ¡Gracias a todos los que han preparado esta fiesta que nos ayuda a continuar celebrando la Navidad!

Como parte de la preparación para celebrar los cincuenta años de nuestra parroquia, tendremos la Misión 2019 que comienza este domingo a las 7:00pm. El Padre Albert MacPherson, del Ministerio de Sanación Agustino, estará con nosotros hasta el martes. ¡Asistan, para que se renueven espiritualmente! Y si conocen a alguien que necesite sanación espiritual y corporal, invítenlo a unirse a nosotros.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK Friday, January 11th after the 9:00am Mass. This sacrament is to comfort and strengthen the soul of the sick or elderly with grace that quiets anxiety and fear, and helps the sick person embrace God's will.
