Mission 3: Now read the script, listen carefully and highlight the stressed syllables. Mobile phones will soon be banned* in French schools. On December 10th Education Minister Jean Michelle Blanquer said the French government plans to enact* the ban when the new school year begins next September. French students are already barred from using their phones inside the classroom but the new ban would extend it school-wide. According to reports Blanquer said quote « These days the children don't play at breaktime anymore. They're just all in front of their smartphones and from an educational point of view, that's a problem.» The ban which President Emmanuel Macron discussed during the campaign will apply* to all students until about age 15 when they start secondary school. Logistical details however are still being sorted out*. Many students are obviously displeased while some teachers and parents have also raised concerns* about how the ban will be enforced* and how students' phones can be safely stored* during school. For United News International, I'm Matt Paul. IMPORTANT VOCABULARY
