1 July 2019 Term 2 Week 10
Week 10 Term 2 2019
Well…… here we are at the end of Term 2 and half way through the year! It has been
another busy term with lots of great learning opportunities for the students.
As many of you know, the girls’ toilet block is currently being treated for termite activity.
The roof is secure at present and we are waiting until the termite activity has ceased and the
roof can be replaced. We are hoping this will happen in the next few weeks.
The school grounds are looking fabulous at the moment. We thank the many parent
volunteers who have been giving up their time to assist with gardening activities. The
children are very much enjoying the spaces they have to play in and there is a lot of
creativity being observed at break times. It is so important that the students have
opportunities to make up games and work together to ensure everyone is enjoying the play
time.
On Wednesday, the students in Years 3-6 (Year 2 students turning 8 years old this year are
invited) will be travelling to Foxglove Oval for the School Athletics Carnival. As usual, we will
combine with Cowan Public School to run the events. The K-2 students will participate in
their Athletics Carnival here at Brooklyn Oval. A great day out for everyone!
We look forward to seeing you this Thursday at the End Of Term Assembly which will
commence at 9.30am. It is always good to celebrate the great learning that goes on in our
school and to be entertained by our very talented students. This term the children will be
performing a dance routine inspired by indigenous traditions as we think about NAIDOC
Week which will follow in the holidays. The School Choir and School Band will also be
performing. .
The Brooklyn Public School Trivia Night is coming up on Saturday 3 August. This is always a
fabulous event and a highlight of the year! More information about the evening can be found
later in the newsletter.
Thank you to all those families who contributed food items to the Anglicare Food Drive. It is
important to know that we are able to help others by sharing what we have and that this has
such a positive outcome for the giver and receiver.
Please make a note of dates for next term. The students return to school for Term 3 on
Tuesday 23 July. Term 3 is shaping up to be another busy term with Education Week
in week 3 and Book Week in week 5. There are many activities planned around these times
that you won’t want to miss!

Get involved in the School Banking program
Brooklyn Public School is excited to offer the Commonwealth Bank School Banking program to all
students.
School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way for young Australians to learn about money and
develop good savings habits. Children who deposit money into their Youthsaver account through School
Banking earn Dollarmites tokens, which they can save up and redeem for exciting rewards.
The rewards available during 2019 are:
• Scented Stackable Highlighters
• Snowy Origami Set
• Icicle Slapband Ruler
• Yeti Fluffy Notepad
• Arctic Owl Fluffy Keyring
• Scratch Art Cards
• Water Skimming Bounce Ball
• Polar Pencils & Pencil Toppers
School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives a Regular Savers Contribution
of $5 for every 10 deposits processed per student as well as an Annual Contribution which is based on the
number of students who made at least one School Banking deposit in the prior year.
