2

Issue: Communication

• Dr. Denise Maguire was introduced to the Sarasota-Manatee Nursing Education Consortium at the June and July meetings.

• Although her teaching schedule did not permit her to attend the Fall 2007 meetings, she has regularly attended meetings this spring.

Page 3: 1 Nursing Issues & Resolution Institutional Research: April 2008

3

Issue: Course Delivery

• Blended courses are again being offered in the RN to BS program & 3 courses are being taught live at USF S-M or MCC.– Enrollment was higher in web courses.– Only 4 enrolled in live pharmacology.

• Students can mix and match the on-line program with the blended courses if they choose.

Page 4: 1 Nursing Issues & Resolution Institutional Research: April 2008

4

Issue: Clinical Nurse Leader

• The CNL program is now on hold for new admissions, due to low enrollment.– Hospitals each have a different interpretation of the

role, and many are not employing the CNL.

• Core Courses are being taught face-to-face on the Sarasota-Manatee Campus via video-conference.

Page 5: 1 Nursing Issues & Resolution Institutional Research: April 2008

5

Issue: Redesign of CNL

• The CON is re-evaluating the CNL curriculum to better meet the needs of partner hospitals. A Task Force has met once. Additional community members are welcome.

• Dr. Maguire was recently appointed as Director of the CNL program.
