• Heavy precip is a rarity in the Mid Atlantic

• Most of the time, when there is precip, there is less than ¼”

• Most record events are with tropical storms

Bottom Line…

Reality… • With no updates, climatology became less useful

• Change in staffing at WFOs – users aren’t aware of its existence or even what the impact of QPF is on their operations

• Continue collaboration with PSU instructors and students

• Work to update climatology• Automate future updates• Educate users (HAS Forecasters,
