What's our reasonreason for living?

To show forthshow forth the excellence and virtue of our Lord.

1 Peter 3 10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and His ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Peace is twofold: withinwithin and withoutwithout.

Peace within is essentialessential and enablesenables us to live at peace with otherslive at peace with others.

John 14 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled [stirred or agitated], neither let it be afraid [timid or afraid].

Jesus has givengiven us peace, but we have to receivereceive it.

Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Troubled means stirredstirred or agitatedagitated.

AngerAnger and upsetupset comes from wrong thinkingwrong thinking.

When we let our minds dwellminds dwell on things that are dishonest or unjust,dishonest or unjust, some slightslight, harsh wordharsh word or

deed, we will be perpetually upsetperpetually upset.

We seesee what we are looking for;

Look for the goodgood and the rightright.

When we trust Godtrust God, we don't have to fretfret..

We know that He is the righteousrighteous Judge.

GodGod will make it right.

James 1 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Let notLet not your mind dwell on fearful thoughts:

DreadDread, what mightmight go wrong, or

What mightmight hurt me or mine.

Don't be a "Nervous Nancy" or a

"Dorothy Downer" or a "Bobby Beware" or a

"Fearful Freddy" or a "Danny Dread it".

[Jesus] Let not your heart be troubled [stirred or agitated], neither let it be afraid [timid or afraid].

When we trust Godtrust God, we have nothing to nothing to fearfear.

2 Timothy 1 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Fear is contrary to faith and is not of God.

Psalms 37 37-40 Mark the perfect (complete; upright; dear

or gentle) man, and behold the upright (straight): for the end of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: He is their Strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Himthey trust in Him.

A third thing that will steal our peace is to get our minds and lives too clutteredminds and lives too cluttered.

Luke 10 40 But Martha was cumbered (to drag all

around; distracted with care) about much serving, and came to Him, and said, Lord, dost Thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful (anxious) and troubled (disturbed) about many things: 42

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Jesus said that only one thingone thing is needful;

Choose the bestChoose the best.

Know for certaincertain what God wants youyou to be doing,

and do thatand do that.

When we try to serve the Lord outsideoutside of our callingcalling and our own particular giftsgifts, or

trying to do moredo more than we can do:

We destroy our inner peaceinner peace, and like Marthalike Martha,

Get angryGet angry with our brothers and sisters.
