service aimed to further professionalize the prison service• Higher Certificate in Custodial Care for new recruit prison

officers• Contract 2007-2013• Currently 384 students on the programme• Meets Council of Europe recommendations for training of

prison officers

Professional Postgraduate Programmes

Specifically research in the workplace and the thrust of the research will be work place problems as

opposed to theoretical problems. • Incorporates taught generic element and research• Academic supervisor/mentor and if possible a

work based mentor. • Flexibility• The fundamental principle - learning outcomes for

a NFQ level 9/10 award have been successfully demonstrated in an appropriate manner

What will REAP contribute to the research on Employer/Academic Partnership?

• REAP will develop and publish a Roadmap that will provide guidance on how effective partnership can be developed and maintained.

• All three perspectives – Academic, Employer and Student/Employee will be incorporated
