Welcome to Sun Valley!
Thank you for joining us for our first annual technology expo, we are glad that you could join us .
The Technology Expo
□We have participants from each school building, please visit the exhibits in the gym as well as the classrooms in the D wing and the planetarium.
Classrooms For the Future Grant
□This is Year 2 of the grant for Penn Delco
□Math, Science, and Social Studies are focus areas for the grant
□Each participating classroom teacher has a laptop, ceiling mounted LCD projector and an interactive Promethean Board
□Access to shared laptop carts for student use
Professional Development at Sun Valley
□A requirement of the CFF grant is for each teacher to take a 30 hour course per year.
□During the first year of participation is the “Need for Change” course.
□During the second year of participation, the course is content specific course.
□Monthly 30 minute trainings on various topics offered.
Beyond the CFF Grant
□Language Arts teachers have a ceiling mounted LCD projector and an interactive Promethean Board
□Sun Valley has been able to reallocate technology resources to other departments such as Art and Foreign Language. These teachers have also taken the CFF courses.
The DCED Grant□Each building received a portion of
the grant money.□Choices for utilizing the grant money
were limited to the following:□Student laptops□Ceiling mounted LCD projectors□Interactive whiteboards□Student response systems□Mounts for existing projectors and
interactive boards
Product Donation
□Thanks to a generous product donation from 3M, we have done the following:□Placed 30 LCD projectors to Sun Valley
for Science and Language Arts □Placed a projector with a built in DVD
player to each school building □Placed an interactive projector in each
school building

□Building wide wireless network□60 brand new wireless desktop

Streaming Video Conference
□Sun Valley social studies students participated in a streaming video event with Governor Rendell
Mock Trial
□Judge Rendell visited Sun Valley on Wednesday March 11, 2009.
□The Judge, her staff, and a representative from the BAR association staged a mock trial with approximately 60 students.
□The event was streamed via the internet for others to view

Interactive Video Conference
□Ms. Eynon’s 8th grade chorus class participated in an interactive video conference with the Philadelphia Opera Company and 2 other school districts where they could ask questions and discuss the requirements to pursue such a career.

Using Skype to connect with other classes
DistanceLearning
Ms. Palladino’s class worked with Central Elementary School in
Oklahoma. They communicated through Skype and a classroom
blog about The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo
