THE GRADUAL AGEING OF THE WORKFORCE IS BECOMING EVIDENT IN VARIOUS EUROPEAN PRODUCTION AREAS
THIS TREND IS CAUSED BY THE LOWER BIRTH RATES, AND IT CONCERNS ALL THE EU MEMBER STATES, THOUGH WITH NATIONAL AND REGIONAL PECULIARITIES

Total Fertility rate - 1990-1994
THE “AGEING WORKFORCE” ISSUE IS COMPENSATED FOR NEITHERBY THE INCREASING PRESENCE OF WOMEN ON THE LABOUR MARKETNOR BY THE NET MIGRATION RATE OF GROWTH.
THIS MEANS THAT, IN ORDER TO GIVE CONTINUITY AND PRESERVE THEIR WORKING ACTIVITY, SMALL ENTERPRISES, THEIR OWNERS AND WORKERS ARE FACED WITH THE NEED TO FIND WAYS AND MEANS OFTRANSFERRING PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE AND TACIT COMPETENCETO OTHER WORKERS
SUMMARY
THE CREATION OF A TRANSNATIONAL NETWORK AT EUROPEAN LEVEL ACTING AS A REPOSITORY OF COMPETENCE AND AS THE CARRIER OF INFORMATION FOR THE PRESERVATION AND CONTINUITY OF PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE AND TACIT COMPETENCE OWNED BY THE SENIOR EMPLOYEES.

THE PROJECT ENVISAGE THE NETWORK IDENTIFICATION OF METHODOLOGIES AIMED AT SETTING UP CONTINUOS TRAINING SCHEMES SPECIFICALLY TAILORED TO THE TARGET GROUP CONSIDERED (SENIOR EMPLOYEES)
BY FAVOURING INTERACTION AND THE EXCHANGE OF EXPERIENCES WITH YOUNGER COLLEGUES
(the intergenerational co-operation)
