and the William Bain & Co Prize for the runner-up in the Engineering Project;

S PENNY The Friesland Cup for cattle judging; A S HOLLAND The William Bain & Co Prize for Engineering Project;

M A J BAILEY The Friesland Cup had been won in the previous year but not awarded.

Before these presentations by Mrs Caldicot, the Minister made a speech in which he indicated the possibility of increasing the annual intake of students to thirty-six.

The Principal reviewed the year’s progress at Gwebi and outlined the type of instruction given at the College. Mr Lilford, Chairman of the College Council, congratulated the successful students and

emphasised that energy and continuity of purpose should be their aim in pursuing a career in agriculture.

Lord Acton spoke on the value of constructive criticism, hand planting, irrigation, and on the methods of control of lion. Mr Barrett, M.P., told the successful students that they would never regret the time

spent on their course and that old lecture notes are of great value in later years. After the ceremony there was a cup of tea, and many farewells between students and

between students and staff. We wish every one of the Foundation Students good rains, good crops.
