Trend #4: Unified Communications
Unified communications (UC) enables multi-mode communication on a common platform. It integrates e-mail, instant messaging, mobile phone, voicemail and video --- with IP telephony as the basic platform.
Frost and Sullivan report : UC market expected to grow by 14.2 percent in 2009, reaching $3.36 billion (approx. Rs 336 crore) by end of the year. Estimated to reach $6.58 billion (approximately Rs 658 crore) by 2014.
The economic crisis has accelerated the adoption of UC tools.
UC is fast becoming a critical business tool and is enabling companies to address real-world challenges like widely dispersed workforces, globalization, rising travel costs and the need to reduce carbon emissions.
