program

Dear Colleague:

We invite you to join us and our outstanding faculty for the 11th Annual Illinois Chapter ACC Practice & Patient Management Symposium being held on Saturday May 17, 2014. This year we are excited to be partnering with the Chicago Adult Congenital Heart Network (CATCH) to provide a dual tract program. Attendees will gain in-depth knowledge and insight into a variety of key issues from administrative and medical management perspectives.

Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to:

ACC/AHA 2014 Valve Guidelines• Describe current ACC/AHA valve disease guidelines• Identify staging system for valvular heart disease• Identify risk assessment in decision making for valve intervention

Adult Congenital Heart Overview and Program Objectives• List two ways a cardiologist can treat a patient with congenital heart disease

Lunch Program: Lipid Lowering Therapies• Describe the controversy surrounding the new lipid guidelines• Identify critical clinical parameters necessary to the care team in the care of lipid patients

Practice Management Objectives• Evaluate the challenges associated with migrating to a value-based compensation model• Assess key components for a successful service line as the paradigm shifts to integration• Investigate two healthcare trends in the cardiovascular setting that will impact the cardiovascular

practice • List two potential revenue or expense reductions that private practices can incorporate into their

practice• Describe key documentation elements that will help protect the cardiovascular team from a

practice audit• Elaborate on the importance of public reporting and how it affects your practice

We look forward to seeing you there.

Marc Shelton, MD, FACC, FESC Raed Al-Dallow, MD, FACCGovernor, Illinois Chapter ACC Program Chair

Adult Cardiology Tract Objectives:• Describe the type of care team approach for

a successful TAVR program• Identify three key elements for a valve clinic• Promote best practice for the CAD

antiplatelet therapy treatment through review and application of the new 2013 STEMI guidelines and the current AUC and how they interact with each other

• List three diagnostic aides for pulmonary hypertension

• Identify the indications and role of newer agents in the treatment of pulmonary hypertension

• Describe the impact of PVD on the care of cardiac patients

• Encourage the importance of comprehensive cardiovascular care and its future role in shaping the cardiovascular practice

Adult Congenital Track Objectives:• Describe current guideline recommended

practice in ACHD patients and identify potential solutions to service deficiencies within Illinois

• Describe the assessment and guideline recommended management of patients with repaired Tetralogy of Fallot and identify solutions to morbidity associated with lack of follow-up care

• Describe the pathophysiology of the failing right ventricle and discuss current treatment options

• Discuss three evolving interventional therapies for ACHD patients with main focus on transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement and identify patients who are eligible and may benefit from this

• Identify the incidence and management of pulmonary hypertension associated with ACHD and discuss three evolving drug therapies

Welcome & Objectives
