    Written Test:

The written test had two sets. Both of these papers were simple. Section 1 was

quantitative aptitude which consisted of 10 multiple choice questions which were very

simple to solve. Consisted of simple problems on average, rate of work, age, logical

    mapping,etc.

Some of them that I remember are:

1.) A,B,C can paint a house in 6,8,12 days respectively. If they are to paint 3 houses suchthat A works for 8 days and then retires,b work for 6 days and then retire, then hows

much time will it take for C to complete the work?

Computer fundamentals consisted of various basic questions on OS,DBMS and COA. They

were easy to answer with just the core knowledge of each.

The last section consisted of two sub questions. 1st

was a program to complete a puzzle

(much like the sudoku puzzle). The gave a certain conditions according to which it was to be

coded. This coding was to be done in any language more comfortable to you. (It was simple

and all they wanted to know was the logic behind it!). 2nd

part was either a set of 5 SQL

queries or a question on ERD. The queries were a bit difficult else ERD was simple

(respective tables were given to solve them).

    1st

    Technical Round

The ones who cleared the 1st

written round were shortlisted for the 2nd

    round which

consisted of technical concepts. These questions were from the core of each and the

interviewers had a wide variety of questions to ask. Some of the hot favourites were:

    1) How do you handle exception in C.2) What are abstract classes?3) What are friend classes and why do we need them?4) What are synchronized methods?5) How do we write an insert SQL command where in we want to pass a null value?6) What is a kernel?7) What are page faults?8) What do you mean my data structure?9) What is the difference between structures and union?10)How do structures and union handle memory?11)What are pointers?12)What is a Dirty Bit?And many more Please prepare the basic one liners in each subject.

    2nd

    Technical Roud

I was very lucky to have gone past 1st

round and get a hold of the second technical round

which had a descriptive and analytical test. 2nd

technical round was more like a practical

implementation of all we have learnt.

Some of the basic implementations that I was asked to implement were:

    1) If you had two list of numbers such that you have to take the first element of thefirst list and last element of the second list and store them in a third list such that:

    3/4

    a) If the two numbers are distinct, add both of them in the third list.b) If the two numbers are the same, eliminate the number from adding to the list.c) If the number already exists in the list, dont add it.Keeping the above conditions in mind, I was asked to do the following:

    a) Select the proper data structure for all the three lists and justify the selection ofall of them.

    b) What is the basic logic of its implementation.c) What will be the most efficient way of doing that if we had to deal with a large

    number of elements?

    2) I was asked to design a database for a web portal system. I was given a case studyfrom which I was to derive the entities and their mutual relationships, then I was

told to draw a entity-relationship diagram of it. Later I was asked to analyse the

tables in the system and normalize them. Later on the tables I normalized I was

    asked to design some queries.

    3) What all processes are involved in the process of submitting a page request andretrieving the page from the server?

    4) What all web support technologies are your aware of?5) Are you aware of JSP and Servlet technologies? What do you know in it?6) What are page faults? How they can be solved?7) What if your database crashes abnormally and you were told to bring it back to most

recent saved copy? What will be the basic approaches that you will follow?

    8) What do you know about the functioning of an .aspx page?9) What if you were told to work on a technology you arent aware of?( this question

was quite specific to my case as I told the interviewer in the beginning of the session

that I have an inclined interest in Web Portal Systems. So he was just checking me

out from other technologies point of view.

10)What if you are asked to work on a project you arent anything familiar about butyou are told that the project is very important for the companys growth point of

    view.

11)Where do you see yourself in the next 4 years?Though I know that most of you must be wondering about the last 3 questions that I

have mentioned (like as in what were those questions doing in a technical round?) but

yes I was still asked them.

    HR Round

  • 7/27/2019 1230-harbingerinterview

    4/4

Luckily again, I went past through and I was called for an HR interview, which in fact was

the last round and it did give me a 80% sense of my confirmation. Some of the questions

that I was asked in the HR round are as follows:

    1) Where do you see yourself in the nest 4 years?2) Where do you see yourself in the next 2 years?

(Again, you would be wondering why so similar questions but thats the way I was

asked. I guess it was because they wanted to know how I scale my plans over years)

    3) What are your work qualities?4) What are your weaknesses?5) What are your two greatest strengths?6) Why do you think we should hire you?7) Why do you think you made a right decision to apply in our organization?8)

Describe what is work for you? in just one word.

And many more. There is something I would like to share with everyone that our HR

round took place in late evening (mine was almost around 9 30 pm). We had been at the

company since morning 8 30. Believe it of not, we all were quite stressed out. And the

first thing that I was asked when I entered in for the HR round was: So, Hows your day

has been?, Dont you feel like resting since it has been a long day?

My answer was quite energizing and so the next obvious question that I was asked was:

Why is it so that even after such a long day that you are saying you aint low?

These all questions were a sort of stress testing. So if in future you have such a long day

at campus, please be strong enough to carry a smile till the end so that the interviewer

doesnt leave the confidence he/she has in you.

I think I have served a lot to you all and I hope that it helps most of you out.
