Last Sunday we all woke up to the tragic news of yet the latest act of terrorism. These acts remind

us the evil that seems to pervade our world. But how ought we, Christians respond? we all recognize our obligation to pray for the dead and those who mourn. 12TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK….

We totally agree with what Msgr. Garcia has written and applies to our parish as well…

¡SUMMER! As we begin to exper ience the warmth of summer, it is important that we re-view the etiquette that we should follow re-garding our membership in a parish community that is made up of many persons, and especially in the area of our participation in our Sunday worship of God.

APPROPRIATE DRESS:

During the months that our weather provides us with warmth, we may wish to “dress down” and participate in Sunday Mass wearing more comfortable clothing. However, comfortable should not imply inappropriate. We must re-member that the celebration of the Eucharist not only makes present the Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross, but also re-enacts what Jesus did at the Last Supper on the night before he was betrayed.

Quoting a “rule of thumb” offered by our Dioc-esan Bishop, as we dress for Mass, we need to ask ourselves: Would we appear at any im-portant function dressed this way? Our respect is not only directed towards our Lord, Who be-comes really and substantially present at our Masses (though this, alone, should be enough to encourage us to dress appropriately), but also towards our sisters and brothers present at the celebration, and whop–rightly so–want to pre-serve an atmosphere of dignity to our gather-ing.

Hopefully, all of us will give consideration to this observation. Ignoring it and dressing inap-propriately says more about individual, and about his/her consciousness of the Presence of the Lord in our midst and the respect that He and fellow parishioners are owed. And remem-ber, our church is air-conditioned!

Thank you for your understanding and coopera-tion. Rev. Carlos R. Quijano, SJ

MENSAJE DEL PÁRROCO….

Aplicando a nuestra parroquia lo que Mon. Gar-cía ha escrito y lo compartimos plenamente… ¡VERANO!

Rev. Carlos R. Quijano, SJ
