HYMN OF ENTRY TIS 107

Sing praise and thanksgiving let all creatures living.

Page 3: 13 june 2010

Sing praise and thanksgiving, let all creatures living

now worship their maker with gladness and song;

all glory and honour we come to him bringing:

O praise to the Almighty, sing praise to our God!

Page 4: 13 june 2010

Our lives of his making he brings to their waking;

in darkness he held us in his gracious care,

now into the light we are called from our sleeping:

O praise to the Almighty, sing praise to our God!

Page 5: 13 june 2010

Lord, frame our desiring to do your requiring,

that unto your glory be all that we do;

and where we have faltered, give strength and give healing:

O praise to the Almighty, sing praise to our God!

CALL TO WORSHIP

The Lord be with you and also with you

Where have you come from? We have come from our homes in the community round about.

Page 8: 13 june 2010

What did you bring with you? We bring love for our

neighbours. We bring joys, we also bring

cares and sorrows.

Page 9: 13 june 2010

Why have you come? We have come to meet with

one another and to share our joys,

our cares and our sorrows with each other and with God.

We have come to worship God.

Page 10: 13 june 2010

Then let us worship God together for God is a spirit and those who come to worship, must come in spirit so that we may be enriched as Gods spiritcommunicates with our spirit.

all glorious above

O worship the King all-glorious above,

O gratefully sing his power and his love:

our shield and defender, the ancient of days,

pavilioned in splendour, and girded with praise.

Page 14: 13 june 2010

O tell of his might, O sing of his grace,

whose robe is the light, whose canopy space;

his chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form,

and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.

Page 15: 13 june 2010

The earth with its store of wonders untold,

Almighty, your power has founded of old,

established it fast by a changeless decree,

and round it has cast, like a mantle, the sea.

Page 16: 13 june 2010

Your bountiful care what tongue can recite?

It breathes in the air, it shines in the light,

it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,

and sweetly distils in the dew and the rain.

Page 17: 13 june 2010

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail,

in you do we trust, nor find you to fail:

your mercies how tender, how firm to the end,

our maker, defender, redeemer and friend.

Page 18: 13 june 2010

O measureless might, ineffable love,

while angels delight to hymn you above,

the humbler creation, though faltering their praise,

with true adoration shall sing all their days.

cradle announced that you had come

among us that you were one with us Hallowed be thy name

Great is the Lord and worthy of all praise.

His greatness is unfathomable. One generation shall commend

thy works to another and set forth thy mighty deeds

My theme shall be thy marvellous works

The glorious splendour of your majesty

People shall declare thy mighty acts with awe

and tell of thy great deeds

Page 28: 13 june 2010

All thy creatures praise thee, Lord.

and thy servants bless thee. They talk of the glory of thy

kingdom and tell of thy might.

How glorious the majesty of thy kingdom

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom

And thy dominion stands for all generations.

HYMN 653 This is a day of new beginnings.

Words: Brian Wren Used by permission LicenSing #A1205 Copyright © HarperCollinsReligious, 2000..

Page 34: 13 june 2010

This is a day of new beginnings, time to remember, and move on,time to believe what love

is bringing, laying to rest the pain that's

gone.

Page 35: 13 june 2010

For by the life and death of Jesus,

God's mighty Spirit, now as then, can make for us a world of

differenceas faith and hope are born again.

Page 36: 13 june 2010

Then let us, with the Spirit's daring,

step from the past, and leave behind

our disappointment, guilt and grieving,

seeking new paths, and sure to find.

Page 37: 13 june 2010

Christ is alive, and goes before us

to show and share what love can do.

This is a day of new beginnings;our God is making all things

new.

Christian Scriptures Reading

Luke 7: 36 - 50

Page 40: 13 june 2010

Jesus at the Home of Simon the Pharisee

36 A Pharisee invited Jesus to have dinner with him, and Jesus went to his house and sat down to eat.

Page 41: 13 june 2010

37 In that town was a woman who lived a sinful life. She heard that Jesus was eating in the Pharisee's house, so she brought an alabaster jar full of perfume.

Page 42: 13 june 2010

38 and stood behind Jesus, by his feet, crying and wetting his feet with her tears. Then she dried his feet with her hair, kissed them, and poured the perfume on them.

Page 43: 13 june 2010

39 When the Pharisee saw this, he said to himself, “If this man really were a prophet, he would know who this woman is who is touching him; he would know what kind of sinful life she lives!”

Page 44: 13 june 2010

40 Jesus spoke up and said to him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Yes, Teacher,” he said, “tell me.”

41 “There were two men who owed money to a moneylender,” Jesus began. “One owed him five hundred silver coins, and the other owed him fifty.

Page 45: 13 june 2010

42 Neither of them could pay him back, so he cancelled the debts of both. Which one, then, will love him more?”

43 “I suppose,” answered Simon, “that it would be the one who was forgiven more.” “You are right,” said Jesus.

Page 46: 13 june 2010

44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your home, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair.

Page 47: 13 june 2010

45 You did not welcome me with a kiss, but she has not stopped kissing my feet since I came.

46 You provided no olive oil for my head, but she has covered my feet with perfume.

Page 48: 13 june 2010

47 I tell you, then, the great love she has shown proves that her many sins have been forgiven. But whoever has been forgiven little shows only a little love.”

48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Page 49: 13 june 2010

49 The others sitting at the table began to say to themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”

50 But Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Hymn 235 A man there lived in Galilee

Copyright © HarperCollinsReligious, 2000. Used by permission.Somerset Corry Lowry 1855 1932 alt.LicenSing #A1205

Page 52: 13 june 2010

A man there lived in Galileelike no one else before, for he alone from first to lastour flesh unsullied wore;a perfect life of perfect deedsonce to the world was shown, that everyone might mark his

stepsand in them place their own.

Page 53: 13 june 2010

A man there died on Calvary, above all others brave;he gave to all, he saved and

blessed, himself he scorned to save;no thought can gauge the

weight of woeon him, the sinless, laid;we only know that with his deathour ransom price was paid.

Page 54: 13 june 2010

A man there stands at God's right hand,

divine, yet human still;that grand, heroic, peerless souldeath sought in vain to kill. All power is his: supreme he rulesall realms of time and space;yet still our human cares and needsfind in his heart a place.

This, this is the God we adore;our faithful, unchangeable

friend;whose love is as great as his

power,and neither knows measure

nor end.

'Tis Jesus the first and the lastwhose Spirit shall guide us safe

home;we'll praise him for all that is

past, and trust him for all that's

to come.

Page 68: 13 june 2010

We must leave behind ussins of yesterday, for God's new beginningis a better way.Fear and doubt and habitmust not hold us back:God gives hope, and insight, and the strength we lack.
