ONE WORLD. ONE VOICE. The following 8 films were announced Tuesday, September 23, 2014 as the First Wave of Official Selections for the 2014 edition of the 24fps International Short Film Festival. Two more waves of official selection announcements will follow--September 26, 2014 and finally October 6, 2014. The exhibition/ competition programs will contain a total of thirty films. All of these exhibition screenings take place in the landmark Paramount Theatre, a restored movie palace from 1930 listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 24fps, a premiere international short film competition, is now in its 16th year. GREGORY GO BOOM Director: Janicza Bravo Producers: Janicza Bravo, Brett Gelman, Debbie Chesebro USA Narrative, 2013, 17 min. A paraplegic man leaves home for the first time only to discover that life on the outside is not like he had imagined it. About the Director Janicza Bravo has spent half her life in Panama and half in Brooklyn. She studied directing and design for theatre at NYUʼs Playwrights Horizons Theatre School. She has mounted plays in New York, Los Angeles, and Madrid. Her first short, EAT, premiered at SXSW. She is currently in the process of putting together her feature-film debut, LEMON, with her cowriter Ben Geiman. GREGORY GO BOOM was the winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Short Film Jury Award for US Fiction. In the Paleolithic jungle, one lone and mischievous monkey dares to challenge the system. About the Directors Nicolas Pawlowski is a French native who studied animation at the Ecole Emile Cohl in Lyon and the Gobelins in Paris. He joined the production company Je Suis Bien Content in 2000 where he works on numerous projects as both an animator and storyboarder. Winshluss (Vincent Paronnaud) is a major figure of French underground comics. His personal touch is provocative, marked with black and quirky humor. With his friends and colleagues Felder and Cizo, he founded the magazine Feraille Illustre. He is also a musician. SMART MONKEY is just beginning the festival circuit. Everything changes one night for Alex, a trouble teenager, when he is visited by a boy claiming to be his brother--who disappeared years earlier.About the DirectorChristopher Radcliff is a filmmaker based in New York City whose film THE STRANGE ONES (co- director Lauren Wolkstein) premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. It has proceeded to screen at over 100 festivals worldwide including SXSW, Rotterdam, and Clermont-Ferrand, receiving more than 20 awards, including several Academy-qualifying wins. Christopher earned his MFA in film from Columbia University, where he also received the Ezra Litwak Award for Distinction in Screenwriting. He was a participant in the 2012 Berlinale Talent Campus Script Station with his feature film project DUMB, and the 2013 IFP Emerging Storytellers Program for the feature-length version of THE STRANGE ONES. JONATHANʼS CHEST was an Official Selection at both the Sundance and SXSW Film Festivals this year.

A wealthy man who loves his robotically controlled mansion learns that things you own end up owning you.About the DirectorHugo Cierzniak is a native of Caen, France who graduated from the ESMA Art School Montpellier, where he studied animation and special effects. He then worked as an animator for television, short films, music

videos and commercials in various studios. During that period he also developed DIP Nʼ DANCE, his first independent short film. He is currently working on the animation of a CGI feature film, directed by Louis Clichy. DIP Nʼ DANCE continues very successful film circuit, appearing at more than 35 international festivals, including the Melbourne International Animation Festival and the Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival in 2014.

Christmas Eve. An enormous explosion tears through Lapland. Santa and his elf, Anthony, have crash-landed in the middle of nowhere on their busiest night.About the DirectorJonathan Van Tulleken recently directed the entire second series of the BAFTA-winning TOP BOY for Channel 4. Prior to this he directed the 2nd block of Series 4 of the BAFTA-winning MISFITS for Clerkenwell Films. Following a degree in Philosophy and Psychology at Oxford University, Jonathan graduated from Columbia University Film School with an MFA in film directing and writing. He is currently slated to direct the adaptation of his 2010 BAFTA-nominated short film OFF SEASON as his feature debut.ANTHONY was the recent recipient of the LOCO Award, Best Comedy Short at the London Short Film Festival.

Is her only solace beneath water?About the Director19 year old Charlie Manton is an ambitious young filmmaker. Born in London, UK, he has traveled around the world since the age of 10 as a musician and performer. Highlights include performing at the Royal Opera House, Leipzig Opera House, and ENO. He was also a part of the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Webberʼs LOVE NEVER DIES. More recently, Charlie has invested his time in all areas of film production. For this film he served as the director, writer, composer, and cinematographer.BENEATH WATER was completed in June, 2014.

A Sammy Davis, Jr. impersonator, hired to visit a Rat Pack fan, finds himself performing the last rites at the boyʼs bedside.About the DirectorTodd Rohal wrote and directed his first feature film, THE

GUATEMALAN HANDSHAKE, in 2006. It premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival, where it won the festivalʼs Special Jury Prize. In 2009, he participated in the Sundance Instituteʼs Screenwriterʼs Lab and wrote and directed his second feature, THE CATECHISM CATACLYSM, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2011 and was distributed by IFC Films. He has collaborated on music videos and DVD projects with filmmakers Cory McAbee and Jeff Krulik, and Austin, Texas band OLA PODRIDA.RAT PACK RAT was presented a Special Jury Prize for Unique Vision by the jury of the Sundance Film Festival in 2014.

A prolific short film director, his films have won numerous international awards and have been seen in festivals around the world. Two of them, BAGGAGE CLAIM and THE ANONIMOUS CHARON were nominated for Spainʼs prestigious Goya Award. Is 2012 he directed his first feature film, THE PERFECT STRANGER.FOLEY ARTIST has appeared in over 45 festivals worldwide, and received numerous awards.
