The Hauntfrom Seattle to St. LouisIn 2007 Chuck and his wife Terri started a monthly publication called “Sinner” in Seattle. By 2008 they were looking to branch out and toured the country looking for another city with sinners. After looking around Las Vegas, Denver, Salt Lake City, Boise, and St. Louis they settled on St. Louis.
Once in St. Louis Chuck and Terri decided to expand their horizons and leased a bar in North St. Louis not far from the Crown Candy Kitchen. And so, Mandina’s became “Ye Old Haunt” in 2011. Ever the restless souls Ye Old Haunt was relocated to 5000 Alaska Ave in Dutchtown in 2014 and became just the Haunt.
The Haunt is Halloween themed all year round offering strong spirits, live music, local art, and a bit of the macabre. The Halloween theme runs throughout the place from twisted barstools to the posters of old scary movies lining the top of the walls and the giant spider and bats on the ceiling. So be careful as those spirits on the back of the bar may not be the only ones you imbibe when there.
The Haunt is fast becoming a place for live music with bands like the Pucknecks, the Living Dead, Moe and Tom, and Jesse and the Hogg Brothers. The Patio will be open in May.
For those of us who like to take our faithful companions along with us, the Haunt offers a pet friendly atmosphere. Putting that sentiment into action they work with Bark Ave. raising money for local independent animal rescue in St. Louis.
So if you want to get your scare on or listen to some great bands or just have a beer in a friendly environment grab your ghoul and materialize at the Haunt in south city.

Longest Running Blues Jam Session
What to test your chops as a musician? Grab hold of your instrument and come jam with the Soulard Blues Band every single Monday night at the Broadway Oyster Bar. How long has this been going on? Long enough to earn the moniker as the Longest Running Blues Jam Session in St. Louis.
Welcome to the Broadway Oyster Bar, whose mantra “Leave your attitude at home” is posted for all to see. Housed in a 150-year-old plus historic building in the shadows of Busch Stadium and Soulard Market in downtown St. Louis at 736 South Broadway, the Broadway Oyster Bar is known as the place to go to hear great music and eat great food. The Oyster Bar has received rave reviews for its seafood. It’s like a piece of New Orleans and its bayous have been relocated to St. Louis.
While Mondays are set aside for the jam session with the Soulard Blues Band, you can hear other St. Louis favorites such as Jake’s Leg, Sean Canan’s Voodoo Players, or the Melissa Neels Band just about every other night of the week.
The Broadway Oyster Bar attracts a wide variety of people including tourists, baseball fans, city regulars, singles, couples and families. Whether you go for lunch, dinner, pre or post Cardinals game socializing, or the music you will find yourself in a truly unique St. Louis institution.

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “fifth of May”) is a celebration held on May 5. It is celebrated in the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of the Battle of Puebla).
It originated with Mexican-American communities in the American West as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War, and today the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemo-rate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.
Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day ... the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico ... which is celebrated on September 16.
