15/19 Series (TM14-19RH/TM14-15RH/TM20-15RH/TM20-19RH) newFBT kit : Modification procedure

This procedure sheet will explain about (14 inch for: FBT-1415, 20 inch for: FBT-2015)of the modification point on the side of DEF BOARD associated with the method and itwith modify to a main body the new FBT kit of 15/19 Series.

1. Modification with to required partsThe new FBT kit contains several parts altogether completely, before start working, orplease check with following reference for the contents;

(1) FBT-1415 (the new FBT kit for TM14-15RH and also TM14-19RH)Set composition1-1: FBT module:

2-5: Cable Tie: CABLE TIES (SG-100) 10 pieces.

2. Assembly Point (See 7/13 - 12/13-page expand figure)1) All of a cover and a rear panel are removed and DEF BOARD and POWER BOARD

are removed from a main chassis.2) FOCUS connector and the anode-cap from the FOCUS BLOCK are removed.

3) Before removing a left chassis, the wiring method of each cable is kept in your mind.If the wiring method is memorized, a left chassis will be removed from a mainchassis. At this time, degauss coil and CRT ground band, which are being fixed to theleft chassis with the cable tie, are also removed.Moreover, cut from a root of GND line connected to FBT BOARD from CRTSOCKET BOARD.

4) FBT module (PD19N4E+M 4-924082) is attached in a left chassis.5) Use the same cable clip (435) for cable harness, which was attached to the old left

chassis. Remove those and place on the newer left chassis, same location.6) (The connector of DF1B on board side) that is attached to CN1 of FBT BOARD the

one side of FBT harness (C4-N05016) and draw to the other side of chassis throughthe wiring hole.

7) In case a left chassis is attached in a main part, it warns against inserting a cable.8) It is the same method of management as the time of removing each cable, and

connects. Moreover, degauss coil and CRT ground band are similarly fixed with theattached cable tie.

9) DEF BOARD is modified. Refer to section-3 about the modification procedure.10) POWER and DEF BOARD are attached in a left chassis, and the whole of each

connector is connected.11) If it checks again that the whole of each connector is connected, power ON operation

check will be performed. Refer to section-4 about the checkpoint.12) If a check of operation is completed, it will turn off POWER and a cover will be

attached.

3. Modification procedure for DEF. BOARDAlthough DEF BOARD side is modified as follows in order to make new FBT drive,there is a version in the substrate of DEF BOARD to A to N.However, for the part, which is unrelated to the portion, which modifies this time, oneversion in it (P-8803N) is mentioned as an example, and modification procedure isexplained.

1) Eight pattern cuts (see 5/13-page parts side repair figure)• +95V line is cut two places and +95V side of D612, R629, R650, R628, R627,

R626, R612, TR603, TR601 and TR608 is floated. (The location “A” and “B” on 5/13 page)

• The pattern between D608-A and D614-A is cut.(Place of “C” of a 5/12 page)• The pattern between minus side of C530 and TR 508-B is cut.

(The location “D” on 5/13-page)• The pattern between pin 5 of CN201 and R633 is cut.

(The location “E” on 5/13-page)• The pattern between pin 7 of CN 201and R635 is cut.

(The location “F” on 5/13-page)• The pattern between pin 6 of T502 and D518-A is cut.

(The location “G” on 5/13- page)• The pattern between pin 3 of T502 and D519-K is cut.

2) Six strap wires are added (see 5/13 page).• The strap of between the through hole of +95V line and pin 2 of CN201 with

UL1007AWG22 blue wire. (The location “a” on 5/13 page)• The strap of between the through hole of +95V line and R649 of +95V side with

UL1007AWG22 blue wire. (The location “b” on 5/13 page)• The strap of between the through hole of +12V line and pin 5 of CN 201 with

UL1007AWG22 blue wire. (The location “c” on 5/13 page)• The strap of between TP301 and pin 7 of CN201 with UL1007AWG22 blue wire.

Remove R627 and C610 from board.4) Change parts

Remove D518 and D519 and change into resistor RD50S 10 ohm (10 ohm 1/2W)

4. Adjustment procedureWhen a new FBT kit sets up hi-voltage and also hi-voltage protection once, becausehardly the setting value changes as for the readjustment of hi-voltage, there is not anecessity.About what is influenced by the characteristics peculiar to CRT, such as FOCUS, acheck or a re-setup is needed as follows.

1) Picture size• Check that it is almost the same before exchanging about TM14-15RH/TM14-

19RH.• About TM20-15RH/TM20-19RH, screen size becomes large a little by change's

(present setting value is 27kV) about a high-pressure setup by the rating of FBT at25kV. For this reason, please perform a re-setup of screen size according to aservice manual.

• When screen size is extremely large or is small in addition, turn off POWER andcheck a high-voltage setup. When high-voltage setting value is not correct, re-setup in the following ways.

• Re-setup of high voltage and protection.1-1: In order to turn on POWER and to set up protection first, set high-pressure

output voltage as 27.5kV by VR2 (HV ADJ) of FBT BOARD (PD19N4E).At this time, it is not necessary to set the case that the protection acted with27.5KV±0.2KV, because the protection is thought that is set up already.When having operated by about 27.0kV except the above, it turns on POWERagain, turning off POWER and using VR1 (XRAY PROT) as MIN, and the above-mentioned setup is performed.

1-2: The volume is fixed in the place which is the moment raise VR1 (XRAY PROT)in the MAX direction slowly till the place where protection operates, and protectionoperated.

1-3: It turns off POWER, and VR2 (HV ADJ) is somewhat lowered in the MINdirection, and is turned on POWER again.

1-4: High voltage is set as 25.0kV by VR2 (HV ADJ).1-5: The volume is fixed VR1 and also VR2 with the glue after the setting

completion.

2) FOCUS settingFOCUS is set as the best state in FOCUS volume (F2) currently attached to the fly backtransformer of a new FBT kit.

FOCUS is adjusted in this volume.

3) R.GAIN and white balance settings.The setting of the contrast level relation becomes needed because even the ABL actionchanged through the means that FBT changed. The setting the necessary item is asfollows.

• R.GAINWhen CONTRAST VR on the FRONT PANEL is set to MAX in MANUALoperation in TP204 on VIDEO AMP BOARD (R OUT), it adjusts by VR102(R.GAIN) on INTERFACE BOARD so that the level of the R OUT may serve as60Vp-p.• White balance

Carry out about a white balance according to a service manual
