• 2010: 15 M€ EU funding • Support of 7 pilot projects • Boost the deployment of innovative
Internet-based services in cities • 3-5 networked cities each • Local innovation ecosystems are
the glue between stakeholders • Prove user-driven innovation schemes:
– Broad end-user involvement – Benefits of cross-border networking
• Input lessons learnt to PPP phase 3 trials
• Similar Initiative envisaged for 2011: – focus on platforms rather than individual services – leveraging on ultra-fast internet connectivity – helping less advanced cities to catch up
