CLUSTER OF HOLINESS
In these days of COVID, we hear of clusters of infection breaking
out. These are outbreaks that occur with people who are in close
proximity to each other. Clusters of outbreaks happen not only
with infectious diseases. This kind of outbreak is also the way
that holiness spreads! I am hoping for a pandemic of holiness in
our parish!

Let's talk about the contagion of holiness. There was, for
example, an outbreak of holiness in Lima at the time of Saint Rose. The bishop
who confirmed her is a canonized saint. He must have been a "super spreader"
because there are several other canonized saints from the same time in Lima.
St Bernard of Clairvaux, whom we celebrated last week, came from a family
infected with holiness, and then he also became a superspreader. When he
would go to preach in a town, the mothers would lock up their sons because
they all would go off to join the monastery after hearing St. Bernard!

Obviously, holiness could have an outbreak in homes where Jesus is the
center. Also, holiness can spread when we allow ourselves to be exposed to
others who have "caught" holiness from being around Jesus too much! Mask
wearing and social distancing are a bad idea, if you are around someone holy.
Let them infect you! The best way to be infected is to be around Jesus and to
be around others who have been around Him: those who talk to Him (pray) and
those who eat and drink His Body and Blood. That ought to cause infection!

I am very serious about wanting to build up clusters of holiness. This is why
faithful family life is so important. This is why being around others who "live
Jesus" is so important. This is my plan as we move forward as a parish: to build
up our families, our parish, our school, our lives in close contact with Jesus so
that we come down with holiness!

parroquia: ¡edificar nuestras familias, nuestra parroquia, nuestra escuela,
santidad!

¡SAN MARTÍN DE PORRES, RUEGA
POR NOSOTROS!
En estos días cuando vemos muchas
estatuas siendo derribadas, pongamos
una: ¡una estatua de San Martín de
Porres! Hace tiempo que tengo en
mente que una estatua de San Martín
de Porres sería muy apropiada para
nuestra Iglesia de Santa Rosa de
Lima. Vea, Santa Rosa y San Martín
eran contemporáneos en Lima y
ambos eran miembros de la Orden
Dominicana.
Una
estatua de San Martín agregaría otro
aspecto de la universalidad de la
Iglesia a las imágenes que tenemos en
nuestra parroquia.

Estoy en consulta con un escultor que
ha realizado obras increíbles para
parroquias en nuestra diócesis. Pronto
podré transmitir su visión de la estatua.
¡Avíseme si desea ayudar con este
proyecto!

HAITI MINISTRY Just as our St. Rose students are beginning a new school year, so are the
students at our sister parish in Robillard. The school is facing the same challenges navigating
through new protocols to provide a safe environment for the children and faculty. They began
school on August 3rd, a week early, to familiarize the children with the new guidelines. These
could not be implemented without the continued support of St. Rose. We have been able to
provide 1,500 masks and funds to build hand washing stations for the students. The construction
of 70 additional benches to allow more spacing for the kids is also underway. The cooks continue
to provide a daily meal for the students. For many, this is the only meal they will receive as their
families can’t afford to purchase food regularly. We are so grateful knowing God’s hand is there to
keep our partnership with Notre Dame de la Merci parish and school moving forward. Thank you
so much for your continued prayers and support!

SAINT ROSE FALL SPORTS PROGRAM: REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Parents of Saint Rose Youth, registration is still open for our 2020 Fall Sports
programs. Our first priority is the safety of our youth, so we will follow the
guidelines provided to us by governmental and diocesan/parish
authorities. We have developed safety protocols for each sport to help
minimize the risks of contracting the Covid19 virus and will gladly provide more
details in future communications to the registered athletes. Please understand
this is a fluid situation that could change based on the level of risks and
decisions made by certain authorities.

Our sports: volleyball, cross country, football, and baseball are open to all youth
(K8
th
grade) involved in either the CCD/PSR program or attending Saint Rose
School. Football and baseball can accept nonSaint Rose parishioners.
Each sport also has its own age and gender requirements. Visit our Athletics
tab on the Saint Rose School website for more details.

Use this link to register or learn more 2020 Fall Sports Registration.
Registering now allows us to properly plan and provides the necessary
information so the coaches can begin contacting you. If you have a boy
between entering 38 grades who is interested in playing baseball, please
directly contact Bill Wright, Saint Rose Athletic Director.
