There are many who are still recovering from the May 1 flood, and thanks to the generosity of this year ’s Holiday Open House prize winner, some will receive an extra little gift this holiday season. Sandra Silverstein’s name was drawn from those who shopped with local merchants during the December 5 event. When alerted to her win, Silverstein explained that she is “so blessed’ and would like to donate her winnings to Hope for Haywood Disaster Recovery
Services. The $250 prize includes a $100 gift certificate redeemable at any of the 14 participating merchants, a $50 gift card from Veranda Restaurant, a $50 gift certificate from Morris Jewelers and a $50 gift certificate from All That’s Victoria. Silverstein explained that the prize will be divided and winners chosen by a random drawing of Hope for Haywood clients. Pictured with Silverstein are (from left) Monica Bivins of Morris Jewelers, Silverstein, and Vickie Cooper of All That’s Victoria.

B r o w n s v i l l e , Tennessee- As party-goers celebrate the holidays with friends and family, everyone should heed Brownsville Police Department’s warning to keep the party off the road or be ready to face the consequences. Law Enforcement will be out in force beginning December 16th cracking down on anyone caught drunk behind the wheel.“After hearing about the dangers of drinking and driving time after time, most people have gotten the message that if they’re planning on drinking, they should always plan a safe way home,” Lt. Barry Diebold said. “But sadly, millions of Americans still think they are invincible and regularly choose to get
behind the wheel after having too much to drink.”
“We know that the holiday season can be one of the deadliest and most dangerous times on America’s roadways due to an increase in drunk driving,” Diebold said. “Don’t let your 2010 end in an arrest or worse, death. Remember, whether you’ve had way too many or just one too many, it’s not worth the risk!” The Brownsville Police Department will be conducting saturation patrols and Sobriety Checkpoints for impaired drivers and drivers violating traffi c laws from Thursday, Dec 16, 2010, thru Monday January 3, 2011.
