ALTAR SOCIETY

ANNUAL GET TOGETHER All are invited to the Parish Hall after all Masses the weekend of August 12-13, for light refreshments. This is a chance for new parishioners to find out what St. Mary Altar Society is all about and for Altar Society members to renew their membership. All are welcome!

WOMEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST St. Mary Altar Society is hosting a Prayer Breakfast Saturday, August 19, 8:30 AM till NOON, in the Parish Hall. All women are invited and welcomed. A presentation “Virtues of Hope and Patience” will be given by Camille Pavy Claiborne. For registration information, please contact JoAnn LeJune at 981-3379 ext. 241.

LITURGY

BAPTISMS AT 10:30 MASS The next Rite of Baptism of Infants celebrated at the 10:30 AM Sunday Mass is scheduled for August 13. Parents interested in their new-born child being baptized at this Mass should contact Tiffany Foreman (739-7009 or [email protected]). We plan to celebrate the Rite of Baptism four times a year at the 10:30 AM Mass.

BABYSITTING AT 10:30 MASS Our survey has determined that at least 10 families have indicated an interest in taking advantage of babysitting service during the 10:30 Mass. Therefore, late-August or early September, we will offer babysitting for children 1-3 years of age (4 years old when Children's Church is not offered). It will be necessary, however, that before taking advantage of this service, parents will need to register their child. This can be done by contacting the Coordinator of the Parish Babysitting Services (Jan Spizale, [email protected]), if you have not already been in touch with her. Those registered will be sent important information several weeks before this new service is offered.

TRAVELING CATHOLICS There are several resources available to help Catholics find a home away from home anywhere in the world. Also, many churches have their own websites. For more information log on to: http://www.masstimes.org.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Important: Parents of Elementary CCD Children A meeting scheduled for all parents with children in our Elementary CCD program will take place on Sunday, July 30. The first meeting will take place at 9:10 AM and then will be repeated at 10:40 AM. All parents must attend one of these two meetings. Important information about some changes to the Elementary program will be explained at that time. Failure to attend may delay your child’s registration.

For more information or questions, please contact Cindy Guidry at 981-3379 or [email protected].

Opportunity Open The Elementary Religious Education program is looking for anyone who might be interested in teaching for the 2017-2018 school year. If you are on the edge of volunteering but can’t make up your mind, let us give you a few good reasons to say “yes”:

• We need you • You will find joy in giving back • The monetary stipend we give

our teachers could come in handy around Christmas and then again for the Summer

• The commitment is do-able • You will find yourself learning

just as much, if not more, than the children you will be teaching

• You don’t have to “know it all” to be good at this

If you are interested and willing to get involved, call Cindy at 981-3379 ext. 225, or [email protected]. St. Mary Mother of the Church, send us a few good teachers!
