How Does itWork?The 1784-U2DN cable is 2 feet long contains a pod witha built-in 5 terminal Phoenix connector. The mating 5terminal connector is included with the cable. The podhouses the electronics required to perform the samefunctions as the PCMCIA card (1784-PCD) that it isreplacing. In addition, the pod includes a baud switch,two rotary address switches and diagnostic LEDs. Allpower required by the pod is supplied through the USBport, making an external power source unnecessary.And, with the 1784-U2DN cable, the additional cablethat was required from the DeviceNet network to thecomputer when using the PCMCIA card is no longernecessary, thereby reducing the total cost of yourcommunication system.

USB to DeviceNet Network Cable1784-U2DNConnects Any Computer to a DeviceNet Network

With the introduction of the newest generation,computer manufacturers have eliminated the availabilityof PCMCIA slots. Current computers include slots fornewer technology cards and USB ports, rendering reuseof existing PCMCIA cards impossible when upgrading toa new computer. Accordingly, Rockwell Automation haslaunched a set of USB to network cables, the second ofwhich is the USB to DeviceNet cable. This cable connectsa computer’s USB port to a node on a DeviceNetnetwork. Drivers for the 1784-U2DN cable are alreadyincluded in RSLinx Classic 2.51.
