Congratulations
Back in April the 2012 candidates for Confir-
mation began their special time of preparation
to receive this final Sacrament of Christian
Initiation.
Since then they have worked as a group,
worked individually in their work books and
also been in conversation with their parents.
They have also worked in classes at school
and at ASRE.
We are proud to put these young candidates
before the community this weekend and wish
them every blessing of the Holy Spirit in their
lives.
We congratulate them on this decision they
have made to be confirmed and the courage
they need to allow their Christian faith to
grow stronger in their lives.
To our visitors we welcome you to these spe-
cial celebrations and pray that you the spon-
sors can be a positive presence in their lives.
To the confirmands of 2012
Congratulations….

NATIONAL VOCATIONS AWARENESS WEEK. Every year the Church in Australia offers to the faithful an entire week dedicated to promoting vocations awareness. This year, National Vocations Awareness Week will be celebrated from 5th – 12th August. It offers an opportunity for us to reflect on the variety of ways through which people live their Christian vocation in today’s world: single life, married life, consecrated life or the ordained ministry and especially our primary vocation – the call to holiness. The call to holiness is to become all that God has created us to be, to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and soul and to share our gifts and talents for the common good of all society

Jack Riswick, RIP As many of you know, Jack Riswick will be buried from St Paul Apostle this Saturday morning. Jack passed away a week ago after a brief illness. Jack and his wife Anne have been long time members of the parish. They are known to many of us for their constant presence in our parish life. Jack and his wife Anne have run the Piety Store for many years. Jack was also a regular church cleaner for many years. There would not have been too many weeks in the past twenty five years when they have not been to the church two or three times checking up on things. Jack and Anne are also well known parishioners at the 11.00am mass. We pray for Anne and all her family who mourn Jack’s passing.
Stewardship Corner -
thoughts on Giving
“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?” (John 6:9) The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is the only one of Our Lord’s miracles which is recorded six times in the Gospel. It carries two important messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always have enough to share. Second, Christ can take our humble gifts and do great things with them if we are just willing to let Him.
There are times, Lord,
when we say we are hungry
but we really have no idea
what real hunger is,
and the desperation
that goes with it.
We even tend to waste food.
We ask you, Lord, to inspire us
to discover the real priorities in life
so that we may live simply
so that others may simply live.
Amen
