• July 1-3 Victory at Gettysburg

• Confederacy in major trouble
Grant Takes Command
• Grant took Command of all Union Armies
• Will wage a war of attrition against the South

• William T. Sherman took Grant’s old command
• Reduce the ability of enemy to fight
