YEAR 1 TRIP TO KENT LIFE MUSE-UM

Following our Victorian assembly, we went on a trip to the Museum of Kent Life. We dressed up as Vic-torians and met a strict Victorian teacher who had us reading, writing and doing arithmetic! Luckily he didn’t punish us but Mr Burge-Maclean had a worry-ing moment when the cane punishment was being explained! We then visited the Victorian cottage before having our yummy picnic lunches. After lunch we wan-dered through the owl academy and played in the playground. Our trip was rounded off in the cuddling corner where we met guinea pigs, a long- eared rab-bit and a cheeky hen! Thank you to Mr Burge-Maclean who helped us on the trip.

DISPLAY OF THE WEEK

This week’s display of the week award goes to Reception for their brilliant self-made display.

DOWN ON THE FARM...

The House Entertainments this year saw the Sunley Hall turned into a farmyard full of animals, farmers and check-shirted farmhands complete with a trac-tor, a very large bunny, a wily fox, and a ‘hanky panky cranky stinky dinky lanky honky tonky winky wonky donkey’. Well done to everyone in Conrad, Dickens, Austen and Chaucer for four great shows!

SPORT

U10 HOCKEY TOURNAMENT On Saturday 13th our U10 netballers went to Ashford Prep School to play in a tournament. There were 5 teams includ-ing ourselves. The girls’ first match was against Ashford Tigers. Padded up, Zara was playing in goal for the very first time. The girls got off to the best possible start and soon scored through Lola, who struck a good goal assisted by Millie. The girls held the score, winning their first game. The next match was against King’s Rochester. Alt-hough the girls had the better of play they conceded a goal late on in the game. The girls suffered the same fate against Kent College in their next match having been dominant. As the final match against Ashford Lions got off to a blistering start it was obvious the girls were determined to come away with a vic-tory. With 2 goals from Lola and one by Olivia the girls won by 3 - 0. Well done girls. This was a very promising performance for the future. Players of the tournament were Millie, Zara and Isabella (as voted by the other teams’ coaches). Thank you to the parents for their support, enthusiasm and refreshments. U11 HOCKEY TOURNAMENT On Monday 15th the U11 girls took part in a Tournament at Birley’s, Junior King’s hockey ground. When the girls saw the teams that were in their pool they knew they were in for a challenging afternoon. The girls faced Sutton Valence, the eventual winners in their first match. The game didn’t start very well and soon the talented girls from Sutton Valence took the lead. The game went from bad to worse with another 4 goals going in. Kent College were their next opponents and although the game was very even Kent College sneaked a goal and a lapse in concentration allowed the opposition to add a second. Going into the 3rd game against St Lawrence Col-lege the girls were determined to win. But even though the girls dominated the game and had many chances to capitalise the ball just wouldn’t cross the line. The next stage of the tournament, the 3rd place play-offs, the girls faced Colfe’s School from London. It was clear from the outset that the girls wanted to finish with a win and it wasn’t long before Emmy scored the first goal of her hat-trick with Alice adding a 4th. Well done girls, a fine performance. Player of the tournament was Alice. (Report from Dee Langford)

Channel Challenge - Amanda Marsh (Mum to Olivia in Prep 4) “I have taken on a swim challenge which requires me to swim the equivalent of the 22-mile Channel swim. I have so far completed 8 of the 22 miles, however I have yet to start seeking sponsorship monies. I am doing the chal-lenge for 'Aspire', a charity who help change the lives of people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.” Please see the link below to support Amanda. Mrs Read also has a sponsorship form. Thank you. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/amanda-marsh-2018-channel-swim-27981
