The city's new goodwill ambassador is high school sophomOre, Stephannie Williams. Miss Williams was crowned Miss Hale Center Saturday, during the annual Miss Hale Center Pageant. She is the daughter of Diane Williams and the late Wayne Williams.

season approaches, the boll weevil is assuming center stage.

Overwinter habitat studies conducted during the winter months by the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station indicate high survival rates for boll weevils. A sampling study or real-time survival conduc:led by the Texas Ag. Extension Service and Plains CoHon Growers during the past few weeks show many times more boll weevils in habitat ready to emerge than in prior years.

PUBLIC NOTICE The City of Hale Center has been notified by the Texas

Department of Health that the water supplied by its system exceeds the maximum constituent level for Fluoride established by the Department's "Drinking Water Standards· which were promulgated as required by the "Safe Drinking Water Ad. Public Law 93-523 (US).

The limit tor this area has bee.n set at 1.6 milligrams of Fluoride per liter of water. ·The samples of water from _ the hale Center system contain 2.8 milligrams of Fluoride per liter. There is no immediate health hazard for drinking water containing Fluoride at this level.

The FluOride may cause mottling (brown staining) of the teeth of children under 14 years of age.

The City is Investigating available treatment techniques to lower the Fluoride to allowable levels.
