Saturday Sampler Begins

March is full of fun too! We begin a “NEW” March Mystery Quilt on the 2nd, so make sure you get signed up! And of course, March is the month to celebrate being a quilter. We have big plans for National Quilting Day including our “You Know You’re A Quilter Retreat” March 20th & 21st. A sale and party at the shop where you will also have a chance to win a $100 Country Traditions gift certificate, and a day of celebrating the art of quilting with our International Quilting Study Center and Museum friends in Lincoln.

So, let’s get in those sewing rooms and start working out! Don’t youdeserve it!? Need more inspiration? We have a year’s worth of healthyclasses, retreats, and interesting activities just waiting for you!

A new year and a chance to start fresh. It just seems right to celebrate what we are passionate about, you our customers and friends. Make sure to mark Saturday, January 23-24th on your calendars! It’s “Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day” and we are celebrating by giving away a $100 gift certificate to the store (see store for details). What better way to beat the winter cabin fever then with a fun party and a chance to be with friends.

Spring into February with our “Fall in Love with a Pfaff Sales Event.” We are very honored to be hosting a “Quilts of Valor Sewing Day(s) Retreat” Please join us in the classroom studio as we piece, create and quilt to honor our heros. What better way to show our compassion and give thanks in February then to spend time stitching for others.

Spring will be here before you know it and we will all be ready to get out and about. The warm sunshine and budding blooms of April means it will be time for the “Annual Nebraska Shop Hop”, Follow the Dots of Fun, starting April 9th. Make sure you order your bags early, so you don’t miss out on the fun!!! Also a “NEW” Saturday Sampler, Celebration of the Seasons, honoring the months of the year will begin.

This year is full of exciting new beginnings and we can’t wait to enjoy them with all of you! See you soon, and here’s to a Happy New Year filled with lots of laughter, love, fabrics and finished projects!

Bring grapes or veggies to the next quilt retreat.7. Drink tons of water when you sew.8. Get up and walk around to break up your sewing time, it will feel good.9. Accept all sewing compliments, say thank you and do not point out mistakes.10. Compliment other quilters.11. Take a picture of your quilts or projects and share them with your Country Traditions friends, who will celebrate the moment with you.12. Sew and quilt how you want, not how someone else does it.13. Breathe and smile as you quilt. Play happy music or have a movie on. Relish your special talent.14. Take a class or ask advice from another quilter and give yourself time and patience to really learn the new skill.15. Sew happy!

National Quilting Day?How will you Celebrate

National Quilting Day is observed on March, 21, 2015. It is a day designed to celebrate quilts and those who make them. The National Quilting Association started National Quilting Day in 1991. Their members passed a resolution in Lincoln, Nebraska, on June 1991.

Quilters, it’s time to plan a party! National Quilting day-now in its 24th year-and quilters all over the nation are required to accomplish three things on that day (yes, required!):

1. Let your little quilty light shine. 2. Sew yourself silly. 3. Share your passion for quilting with others.

Easy enough, right? Here are some ideas for planning your own National Quilting Day celebration, so that you can complete all three requirements.

Make & give a quilted gift.Do you know someone who deserves a little recognition? Make a simple quilted pot holder and pair it with fresh flowers to give a quilt that’s sure to be remembered.

Attend a Retreat with a NewbieSewing with friends, new or old, is a great way to spend this holiday. Join us in the retreat center for the weekend for our You Know you're a quilter when retreat. Spend some time at the retreat working on a charity block or two, or invite a newbie to quilting to join you.

Plan a Day Outing with Friends.Plan a Quilting Day Adventure with a car load of friends. Start out at the International Quilting Study Center and Museum in Lincoln, (they have free admission &special events planned for the day) pause for a little ladies luncheon, then head for Country Traditions for a little “holiday” shopping and special treats throughout the shop.

In spring we shake loose the shackles of winter and make big plans and think big thoughts. We celebrate what has passed and look forward to the future with joy and hope. In no other season is there such anticipation. Welcome the spring season with these refreshing ideas and projects. 1 Triple Berry Twist Cheeseball & Dessert Mix12 oz. plain yogurt1 cup crushed ice1 cup berries, fresh or frozen (strawberries, raspberries & blueberries)1/2 cup skim milk

Combine all ingredients in a blender, mix until smooth. Garnish with light whipped topping and sprinkle with Berry Topping. Serve immediately. For a thicker smoothie, use less milk or add other favorite ingredients like 1/4 cup oats or protein powder.
