Novosibirsk State University (NSU) is one of World's leading Na�onal Research

In 2007 NSU was one of 57 Russian universi�es to win the na�onal educa�on

The Ins�tute of Medicine and Psychology of V. Zelman, NSU prepares specialists in

the field of "General Medicine". Thanks to the university’s research base, students

receive not only a full-fledged medical, but also a holis�c science educa�on. The

mission of the ins�tute is to train highly qualified research doctors who undergo

extensive clinical prac�ce, possess natural science knowledge and have the skills

of experimenters - which allows them to further realize themselves in both

prac�cal medicine and scien�fic ac�vity.

The idea behind the introduc�on of this specialty is to train highly qualified medical doctors or researchers

with exper�se in clinical disciplines who will possess all the research skills and knowledge of natural sciences

that are required for biomedical research.

Since its incep�on, the University has realized that the current pace of development and the specificity of

medicine today, such as the introduc�on of molecular and personalized medicine, require that we train

doctors with sufficient knowledge in different fields of science. Therefore, the General Medicine

Educa�onal Program is based on an approach that provides high-quality medical training from the top

specialists in different fields of medicine with a comprehensive educa�on in natural sciences, social and

economic disciplines, mathema�cs and humani�es, and students’ par�cipa�on in research projects.

DURATION OF STUDY : 6 YEARS

FIRST YEARS : In the first year, students try themselves as an assistant to the junior medical staff: they get

acquainted with the structure and organiza�on of the work of hospitals, the sanitary-epidemiological

regime, and the rules for general pa�ent care.

THIRD YEARS : In the third year, trainees become assistants to the procedural nurse, here the main emphasis

in training is on medical manipula�ons, the provision of first aid.

FOURTH YEARS : In the fourth year, students try themselves as an assistant to a general prac��oner, surgeon

and obstetrician-gynecologist, get acquainted with the work of a hospital doctor.

FIFTH-SIXTH YEARS : In the fi�h year, students undergo prac�cal training as a doctor at the outpa�ent

department and ambulance. Trainees learn to provide outpa�ent and emergency medical care on the basis

of the main clinics for 6 weeks.

SECOND YEARS : In the second year, students master nursing, get acquainted with the medical and protec�ve

regime, the simplest medical manipula�ons.

At 5-6 courses, students carry out a research project, the results of which are protected in the form

of gradua�on thesis.

In 2016, it was decided to establish the Medical Scien�fic and Educa�onal Center (ISC) at the Ins�tute of

Medicine and Psychology (IMP) of NSU as a base for research and educa�onal ac�vi�es of the IMP, as well as

a medical ins�tu�on providing medical services using expert class equipment.

DORMITORIES

The dormitories are located in front of the entrance of the Laboratory Building, only a 3 minute walk

from the University. Interna�onal students usually live in double-rooms in block-type dormitories.

A block is composed of one or two rooms and a bathroom equipped with a shower and toilets. Each

floor is equipped with furnished kitchens and a leisure rooms.

Near the campus there are supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, a hospital and a clinic, fitness

clubs. On the campus there is a sports center with a swimming pool, saunas, gyms, a tennis court,

volleyball courts, a student canteen, buffets, the Veterans Walk of Fame. Campus residents can

benefit from laundry facili�es, a hairdresser, a shoe repair shop, and more.

DINING HALL : NSU's dining hall and cafes offer a balanced menu using natural products. Prices are

adapted to suit the student budget. Cafeterias are available in all academic buildings and

dormitories.

WELLNESS CENTER : The Wellness Center provides treatment sessions to students and University

staff. Procedures include: cura�ve and invigora�ng showers and baths, massages, physiotherapy,

phytotherapy, light and heat therapies.

SUMMER RECREATION CAMP : The University Recrea�on Camp “Universitetskiy” is located in the

forest on the bank of the Ob Sea near the village Burmistrovo.

All the necessary condi�ons have been created on the campsite for the students, University faculty

and employees, as well as their families to have a good rest during summer.
