Formatting Dialogue

1. Use quotation marks before and after the quoted material.

2. Indent (start a new paragraph) at the beginning of a dialogue and each time the speaker changes.

3. Separate the speaker tag from the quoted material with some kind of punctuation (usually a comma).

4. Punctuation comes before the quotation mark.5. Begin the quoted sentence with a capital letter.

6. Use a lower-case letter for the speaker tag (unless it’s someone’s name).
