My target audience was for indie teenagers with an indie rock taste for music. This is because this genre is quite niche and niche is more popular nowadays than mainstream. This follows with the lifestyle category of trendies.

Indie people usually like to see unknown bands/artists (to be different) and not huge venue famous bands/artists which is why I chose this plug as one of my cover lines on my front cover. I also included the tag ‘exclusive’ to entice the audience to read it as indie people like to know what other people don’t – hence ‘secret’ gigs..

Bands and artists featured My artists Connor and Jo are in the target

audience age group which allows the audience to relate and may make the audience more keen to find them on social media.

The existing bands and artists featured on my front cover and contents page are all more or less categorised in the same indie rock genre (The Smiths and Dave Grohl) which encourages people who like this genre to buy the magazine as they can discover new artists/bands in the same genre.

Money It is commonly thought that teenagers tend to

lack money as they still go to school so aren’t able to have a full time job and receive income. So I included a money saving cover line to appeal to a younger demographic and made the price of the magazine (£2.60) lower than normal music magazines so it is more affordable. Also, as the indie social group has become somewhat of a mainstream style (people strive to look and be different) the clothing for an indie style is quite expensive so my music magazine would be more convenient for my targeted social group.

I also included a cover line containing reality TV star Jamie Laing from Made In Chelsea’s views on what’s ‘hot’ in the music industry. This could appeal to a younger demographic as the people on the show are quite young and they might want to know what he’s saying outside of the show.
