BY SARAH BISSONETTE North Star Staff ROSSEAU - The face of Rosseau changes almost every summer as new stores open their doors for business. This summer is no different. Among the new busi- nesses to hang out their banners are E.T.C., Weekend Guy Store, Rosseau Village Winery, and Hair Base. E.T.C. offers tarot card read- ings and in-chair massages per- formed by Emilie Mimra, antiques from the Ditchburn Estate being sold by Trisha Young, and miniature oil paint- ings by Cheri Killingworth. The three women decided in mid-May to open a store together and had E.T.C. ready for business on June 1. E.T.C. is located in a unique building across from Rosseau Lake College on Highway 141, just east of the village, and will stay open until the end of August. When they were deciding between here, Gravenhurst and Burk’s Falls as the location for their store, they settled on Rosseau because this is where Ms Young lives and it’s an elite cottage area that is expanding, Ms Mimra said. Ms Mimra does tarot readings because she feels that it is important for people to know where they are going. Ms Killingworth paints miniature scenes and portraits, varying in size from about one inch to eight by 10 inches, because it is a nov- elty. Ms Young is selling some of the antique furniture and tea sets that she inherited from the Ditchburn estate when her mother passed away, because she wants the objects to go to a home rather than into storage. The Ditchburns were a founding family of Rosseau, as well as world-renowned wooden boat builders from the late 19th cen- tury into the mid-20th century. The Weekend Guy Store is owned and operated by Vince Grittini, who not only creates his Weekend Guy cartoons, but also heads the Weekend Guy televi- sion series and the Muskoka Theatre Project. Mr. Grittini opened his store on the Victoria Day weekend and will keep it open until Christmas. It is located on the corner of Oak Street and Highway 632. Mr. Grittini chose the novelty items like the wind soc - an ani- mated wind ornament - and dis- posable bathing suits, because they make him laugh. There are also products that bear the Weekend Guy insignia. Because of accusations that the Mousers were tying up the radio phone by using the internet, which they say can’t be used with a radio phone, they now have only half an hour to make a call before they’re cut off. “This radio phone is absolutely ridiculous. Half an hour on the radio phone - it beeps, then the signal’s gone,” said Mr. Mouser. “We pay for 911 service every month, and can’t use it because the radio phones can’t connect to it.” This will be the first win- ter the Mousers will spend here and they would like the added security of having a reliable phone in case of an emergency. “I don’t think we’ll get it, not the way Bell operates,” Mr. Mouser said. “We’re just getting tired of the runaround.” 2 - PARRY SOUND NORTH STAR Wednesday August 3, 2005 wed≠esday, august 3 Morning Concert — 10:30 a.m. Magic Flute – Bach Noon Concert — 12:00 noon Magic Flute – Classical Mendelssohn Choir — 7:30 p.m. Great choruses from operas and oratorios πhursday, august 4 Noon Concert — 12:00 noon Festival Winds and tenor Alan Bennett Evening Concert — 7:30p.m. Alan Bennett sings On Wenlock Edge friday, august 5 Morning Concert — 10:30 a.m. Alan Bennett and Festival Baroque Noon Concert — 12:00 noon Alan Bennett and Festival Baroque Evening Concert — 7:30 p.m. Dancetheatre David Earle and Penderecki String Quartet saπurday, august 6 Under Paris Skies — 7:30 p.m. The Charles W.
