    CURRENT EXHIBITIONS

    Portland Town Hall - Celebrating 150 Years

    On 21 September 1863 the foundation stone for the new Portland Town Hall was laid byWilliam Learmonth, Chairman of the Municipality of Portland. This exhibition commemorates

    150 years of this heritage listed building. Featured items include the original drawings from acompetition to design the new Town Hall by engineer John Barrows, and eventual winner,

    surveyor and architect Alexander Ross. This is possibly the first public showing of these

    drawings in 150 years. Also included are portraits of past Portlands mayors up to the mid 20thcentury, and significant items related to Portlands civic past. Now known as History House,

    the former town hall is home to the Portland Family History Group and a social history display

    Exhibition on display at the Casterton Town Hall until 4 October. Venue open weekdays from9am-5pm except Public Holidays. Admission free. We suggest you allow an hour to view it.

    The exhibition is recommended for all ages from grade 6 and up.

    Souvenir Exhibition

    Exhibition on display until 15th October 2013 at the Portland Maritime Discover Centre, LeeBreakwater Road, Portland. Open daily 9am5pm (except Christmas Day). Free admission.

    Time Out

    Clubs, social groups and community events of yesteryear are the focus of this display of

    Portlands past. Exhibition on display at History House, Cliff Street, Portland until 31st January

    2014. Open daily from 10am-12noon and 1pm-4pm (except Good Friday and Christmas

    Day). Cost on entry.

    International Committee of the Red Cross: Missing Lives photography exhibition

    Sixteen years on from the wars in Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia, and 12 years after the end of theconflict in Kosovo, thousands of civilians still remain unaccounted for. The photos, by award-

    winning British photographer Nick Danziger, document the plight of families still waiting for

    news of loved ones who went missing during the wars in the former Yugoslavia. Beside each

    photograph is a short description of the missing person and their familys search for answers,

    compiled by Canadian writer Rory MacLean. Missing Lives, which was first shown in London,United Kingdom in 2010 will be shown at the Portland Library, Bentinck Street, Portland from 16

    September until 27th September 2013.

    Winding A Path To The Sea

    Take a nostalgic journey along the Glenelg River with this exhibition looking at the river from a

    historic perspective. Exhibition on display at the Casterton Town Hall (Foyer), 67 Henty Street,Casterton until 9th February 2014. Open weekdays 9am-5pm except Public Holidays.

    Admission free.

    Special Delivery

    An exhibition of paper ephemera from Councils Cultural Collection - first day covers,commemorative envelopes, telegrams, letter cards, greeting cards and older style postcards.These items reference places, organisations, businesses and significant events from acrossGlenelg Shire. Exhibition on display at History House, Cliff Street, Portland until 27 October

    PERFORMING ARTS

    The Book Club Australias leading stage actress, Helpmann Award winner AmandaMuggleton, reprises her role as genteel housewife and mother Deborah, who has an

    addiction Im a bookaholic, she confesses. I just cant help myself. The spice of Deborahs

    life is her book club. For the women who take part, its a meeting of minds and their very

    different lifestyles. For Deborah, the club is a chance to gather the juicy gossip of her friends

    lives and relationships. But when a famous author joins the group for a study session,

    Deborahs own life suddenly switches from an old wives tale to the stuff of erotic fiction. Theensuing affair takes her love of linguistics to a whole new level. Performing at the Portland Arts

    Julia Street Creative Space Spring Sale The Artist Group from Julia Street Creative Spare arehaving a Supa-Dupa Spring Sale. All art will be original paintings by local artists and will sell for

    $300 or less, some even under $100. The art can be viewed at the Julia Street Creative SpaceGallery until 2nd October. Opening times 10am-4pm weekdays and 10am-1pm Saturdays.

    Dance Class - Zumbellesque

    Zumbellesque combining styles of Zumba moves, bellydance fusion and burlesque beats all
