NOTE-A-BULL FOR TONIGHT The Bulls hit the hardwood this evening riding their second four-game win

streak of the season. Prior to this year, the last time Chicago won at least four-in-a-row occurred during the 2017-18 season when they won seven straight beginning Dec. 8, 2017, with a 119-111 OT victory at Charlotte, ending Dec. 21st in Cleveland with a 115-112 loss to the Cavs.

ZACH LaVINE comes into tonight having scored in double figures in a 128 consecutive games. He currently is tied with Lakers All-Star LeBRON JAMES for 6th in the NBA in scoring (25.9). LaVine also ranks No. 3 in putting points on the board in the 4th quarter with 155.

LONZO BALL is the only player in the league this season to record 120+ rebounds (139), 120+ assists (123), 40+ steals (42) and 25+ blocks (26).

TEAM NOTE-A-BULLS The Bulls recently defeated the Charlotte Hornets 133-119 (11/29). The 133-

point effort is Chicago’s highest point total this season, and marks first time the Bulls scored more than 130-points in a non-overtime game since Dec. 31, 2020, at Washington.

Chicago’s 53 field goals vs. Charlotte (11/29) were also the team’s most this season, and the squad’s 59.6% shooting mark from the field is also its best.

Five Bulls (Lonzo Ball 8, Alex Caruso 7, DeMar DeRozan 6, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vučević, 5 each) also recorded five or more assists, leading to another team season-high of 35 vs. Charlotte (11/29).

The Bulls recorded a season-high 17 treys (17-of-34 50.0%) at Orlando (11/26), the most since hitting 18 last year vs. Brooklyn (05/11/21). Chicago also posted 32 assists (on 48 made baskets), tying a then season-high set vs. New Orleans (10/22) in the home opener. It was also the second time this season the Bulls shot 50.0% from deep, the first of which also occurred in the home opener vs. New Orleans (14-of-28).

The Bulls shot a perfect 24-of-24 from the free throw line at Denver (11/19) on their way to defeating the Nuggets, 114-108. The victory was Chicago’s first in the Mile High City since the 2005-06 season (02/08/06 – Bulls 110, Nuggets 107) – snapping a 13-game losing streak. The 24-of-24 mark was also the best since Chicago went 25-of-25 from the line in 125-118 loss to the Hornets in Charlotte (02/02/19) during the 2018-19 season.

On 11/15 at the Lakers, Chicago had three players score 25-plus points: DeMar DeRozan (38), Lonzo Ball (27) and Zach LaVine (26). It was the fourth time in the past 10 seasons that the Bulls had at least three players post at least 25 points (3/1/19 vs. Atlanta, 12/18/15 vs. Detroit and 3/30/13 vs. Dallas), and two of the three were four-overtime games. (Elias Sports Bureau)

Chicago’s back-to-back road victories over the Los Angeles Clippers (11/14: 100-90) and Los Angeles Lakers (11/15: 121-103) is the first time since Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, 1984 (Michael Jordan’s rookie season) the Bulls defeated both LA teams back-to-back.

Chicago overcame a 19-point deficit, including being down by 14 points entering the fourth quarter (103-89), to win at Boston on 11/1, 128-114. According to ESPN Stats & Info, it was the first time in the shot-clock era (1954-55) that a team lost by 14 or more points after leading by 14 or more points entering the final frame.

Two of the Bulls’ top fourth-quarter point differentials in team history, regular season or playoffs, have come this season: +28 on 11/1 at Boston (39-11) and +25 on 11/8 vs. Brooklyn (42-17) (basketball-reference.com).

PLAYER NOTE-A-BULLS

BALL connected for the 550th time from beyond the 3-point arc after going 4-of-5 from long range vs. CHO (11/29).

BALL collected his 1,100th career defensive rebound early in the opening quarter vs. New York Knicks (11/21).

BALL pocketed his 350th career steal in only his 230th NBA game at the LA Clippers (11/14).

BALL became the first player in NBA History to record a triple-double for three different teams before turning 24 years old with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists vs. New Orleans (10/22). That night was also Ball’s Chicago home debut. Previously, he recorded three triple-doubles with the Lakers (2017-19) and four with New Orleans (2019-21).

ALEX CARUSO is tied with Miami’s JIMMY BUTLER as the NBA’s top pick-pocket, as both average a league-leading 2.2 steals per game. However, Caruso and Boston’s MARCUS SMART lead the league when it comes to the total number of robberies with 51. Caruso’s teammate, LONZO BALL, is averaging 1.7 steals per game (T-12th) and ranks 8th in total thefts with 42.

CARUSO knocked-down his 150th career 3-pointer and grabbed his 500th career rebound vs. Miami (11/27).

On 11/10 vs. Dallas, CARUSO posted 16 points and game-high 6 steals off-the-bench. He is only the fourth player in Bulls history to post such a game in a reserve role. Randy Brown, Scottie Pippen, and Michael Jordan are the others. (basketball-reference.com)

With a team-high of nine dimes, CARUSO reached 500 career assists at Portland (11/17).

DeMAR DeROZAN and ZACH LaVINE are the only teammates, and two of eight players overall to score 20+-points 19 times this season. In fact, LaVine has done it the most, as he’s recorded 20+-points a league-leading 22 times.

DeROZAN and LaVINE are also the only teammates to score 30+ points in a game seven times this season.

And when it comes to scoring down the stretch, Chicago’s Dynamic Duo are two of the best. Coming into tonight’s’ contest, DeROZAN leads the NBA with 178 4th-quarter points, and as mentioned above, LaVINE is No. 3 with 155.

Over a two-game stretch from 11/29 to 12/2, DeMAR DeROZAN, ZACH LaVINE and NIKOLA VUČEVIĆ all scored 25+ points while shooting 50% or better from the floor, the first time three teammates have reached this mark in consecutive games since MITCH RICHMOND, CHRIS MULLIN and TIM HARDAWAY did so for the Warriors in 1990. (ESPN Stats & Info)

Over Chicago’s first 16 games, DeROZAN and LaVINE posted 11, 25-point games, making them the fastest pair of teammates to record 10+, 25-point games since Hall of Famers ELGIN BAYLOR and JERRY WEST (in 11 games) of the LA Lakers in 1962-63. (Elias Sports Bureau)

DeROZAN is 4th in scoring with an average of 26.4 points. Only five times has he failed to post 20+-points this season, recording 17-points each at DET, (10/20), vs. DAL (11/10) and at HOU (11/24), and 18-points each at GSW (11/12) and vs. IND (11/22).

DeROZAN continues placing Hall of Famers in his rearview mirror, bypassing both JULIUS “DR. J” ERVING (18,364) and TRACY McGRADY (18,381) in becoming the NBAs’ No. 72 All-Time leading scorer (18,384) after posting 29-points at BRK (12/4). Two nights earlier, DeRozan blew by Hall of Famer DAVE BING (18,327) for 75th after posting a game-high 34-points at New York Knicks (12/2).

After shooting a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe, DeROZAN (5,761) shot past Hall of Famers BOB COUSY (5,756) and NATE “TINY” ARCHIBALD (5,760) for 51st place on the NBA’s All-Time Free Throw attempts list at Orlando (11/26). Then a couple of nights later, he passed Bulls icon and Hall of Famer, ARTIS GILMORE, for 50th on the NBA’s All-Time Free Throw attempts list (5,768) with five more charity tosses vs. CHO (11/29)

DeROZAN appeared in his 900th career game at Houston (11/24), posting 17-points, 7-assists and 5-rebounds in 36:03 minutes of play.

LaVINE comes in tied as the 6th leading scorer in the NBA with an average of 25.6 points per game. He’s also riding a 128 consecutive game streak of double-digit scoring. Lastly, he moved passed BJ ARMSTRONG (5,553) for 18th on the Bulls’ All-Time scoring list (5,571) after posting 26-points vs. CHO (11/29).

LaVINE knocked-down his 3,000th career shot, including his 900th trey (600 with Chicago) at Houston (11/24).

COBY WHITE connected on his 300th career 3-pointer at Houston (11/24). RANKINGS FLIP: Last season the Bulls ranked near or at the bottom of the league in a number of important categories. For example, at the charity stripe, Chicago was dead last (30th) in made free-throws (13.8) and free-throw attempts (17.5), connecting on rather modest 79.1% (11th). They also ranked 28th in steals (6.7), 27th in turnovers (15.1), 24th in opponent turnovers (12.7), 26th in scoring off opponent turnovers (14.5), 26th in deflections (12.9), 21st in scoring (110.7) and 14th in opponent scoring (111.6). However, this season the numbers are far better across the board. Chicago currently ranks 9th in made free-throws (16.6), 16th in attempts (20.1), and 1st overall with a make-rate from the stripe of 82.5%. The Bulls are also 13th in deflections (14.6), 11th in steals (8.0), 7th in turnovers (13.2), 9th in opponent turnovers (15.2), 4th in scoring off opponent turnovers (19.0), 7th in fast break points per game (14.0), 10th in overall scoring (109.6) and 7th in opponent scoring (104.8). DYNAMIC DUO: DeMAR ROZAN and ZACH LaVINE combined to score 62-points at Denver (11/19) to close the book on a very successful five-game Western Conference road swing for the Bulls. The high-powered pair also combined to score 64-points at LA Clippers (11/14) and at LA Lakers (11/15). Then to tip-off December, the duo did it again and again, combining for 61 points to help lead the Bulls to a 119-115 victory over the Knicks (12/2) at Madison Square Garden, and two nights later at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn (12/4), they combined for 60-points to drive the Bulls to a 111-107 win over the Nets. Chicago’s dynamic duo has now combined to score 60+-points seven times this season, each occasion coming on the road. The Bulls have won six of those seven games. DIALING LONG DISTANCE: All-Star ZACH LaVINE is quickly rising to the top of the Bulls’ All-Time Three-point list. In the fourth game of the season (and LaVine’s 209th as a Bull), the 8th-year guard knocked down three treys at Toronto (10/25/21) to pass franchise icon MICHAEL JORDAN (555) for the No. 4 spot in Bulls history. Next up on the list is Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen with 664 3-balls.

IT’S DONOVAN WITH A “D”: In each of his first six seasons as an NBA head coach, BILLY DONOVAN’S teams have finished in the top half of the league in defensive rating, and never lower than 13th. So far, this trend is continuing with the Bulls as Chicago is 5th in defensive rating this season with a score of 105.6. 2015-16 (OKC) 13th (105.6) 2016-17 (OKC) 10th (107.5) 2017-18 (OKC) 9th (107.2) 2018-19 (OKC) 4th (107.0) 2019-20 (OKC) 7th (108.8) 2020-21 (CHI) 11th (112.0) 2021-22 (CHI) 5th (105.6) AAA RATINGS: Speaking of ratings, what a difference a year makes! Last season, the Bulls finished with a record of 31-41, the 11th best in the East. As mentioned above, they were also the 11th ranked defense (112.0), but on the other side of the ball, Chicago was the 21st offense (110.4), and finished with a Net Rating of -1.1 (20th). This season, however, the Bulls’ current 17-8 record puts them 2nd in the East, and as mentioned above, they hold the 5th-best Defensive Rating (105.6). Offensively, the Bulls are 6th with a rating of 110.5. Combined, Chicago ranks 4th with a Net Rating of +4.9. HONOR ROLL: The NBA recently named BILLY DONOVAN its top Eastern Conference Coach for the months of October/November in recognition of his steering the Bulls to a 14-8 record over the first two months of the season. It’s the second time the league has recognized Donovan with the award, the first of which came while he was heading the Oklahoma City Thunder in December 2019. He is now the 5th Bulls Head Coach to be so honored, following Tom Thibodeau (six times), Hall of Famer Phil Jackson (four times), Scott Skiles (twice) and Doug Collins (once). DeMAR DeROZAN was also recently named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played between Nov. 29 and Dec. 5. The Bulls went 3-0 in that span, posting victories over the Charlotte Hornets, New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets. DeRozan averaged 30.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and shot 58.7 percent from the field during this stretch.

BACK-TO-BACKS: This season, Chicago will play 28 games as part of 14 back-to-back sets.
