3VIOC saw its company-owned facility population shrink by 15 stores, largely as a result of divesting those facili-ties to franchisees. The franchise population grew by 43 facilities, and the net increase of 18 shops was the second-largest growth recorded by any of the chains on this list. Plus, VIOC’s growth puts it within shouting distance of overtaking Pennzoil 10-Minute.

1While Jiffy Lube remains the largest fast lube company in the nation for a 21st consecutive year, the chain has been wracked by negative press during recent months. The chain saw its company-owned population dip by 16 stores and its franchisee population decline by 11 stores pending the resolution of several recent franchisee bankruptcies.
4Chevron’s Texaco Xpress Lube branded program grew by two facilities during the past year. The company optimistically aims to increase the chain by 25 facilities in the coming year. Despite the chain’s slow growth, no other lube chain ranking behind Texaco Xpress Lube is within 100 facilities of the branded program chain.

5Kwik Kar continued the steady growth of its turnkey lube shop program, expanding by a total of six facili-ties during the past year. Combined with the decline in Valvoline’s Express Care program, Kwik Kar rejoined the top five on our list.
