Former Warrior and professional golfer John V. Cook is in his second year as the head men’s golf coach. Afterasuccessfulfirstseason,CookwasnamedWestRegion Coach of the Year by the Golf Coaches Associa-tion of America (GCAA). He took the Warriors to a tied forsecondplacefinishatboththeconferenceandregionaltournamentsandasixthplaceshowingattheNCAACham-pionship. Sofarin2009-10,CookagainhasledtheteamtosuccessastheWarriorswonfourtournamentsinsevenspringeventswithtwosecondplacefinishes.CalStateStanislausplacedsecondattheCCAAtournamentandCookwasvotedCCAAcoachof the year. CookreplacedJimHanny,whoretiredafter42yearsofserviceatCSUStanislaus,inJuneof2008andbecamejustthesecondhead coach in the history of the men’s golf program at Cal State Stanislaus. CookwasaCalStateStanislausWarriorfrom1990-1993beforecompletinghiscollegiatecareeratDivisionIBoiseState.Hebecametheassistantmen’sgolfcoachatBoiseStatein1995andtookoverastheheadoftheprogramthefollowingyear. AsacoachatBoiseState,Cook’sresponsibilitiesincludedrecruiting,fundraising,andschedulingforthegolfprogram.
