Kelson Says: “Obviously, we were very disappointed with our finish this fall. We began with a very fine showing at the Carpet Capital Col-legiate and then we just did not play well after that.

“We do believe, however, that this team is much improved from three months ago. We have had a couple of players who have made significant strides in their physical games. In short, we feel these changes should pay big dividends for our team.”

Kelson Says: “I can’t say enough about the job Garrick (Porteous) and Danny (Keddie) have done for our program. They are the ultimate ex-amples of guys who have come into our pro-gram and absorbed and taken advantage of all the resources we have to offer here at the University of Tennessee.

“Both of their records of improvement have been remarkable. They certainly have es-tablished themselves as some of collegiate golf’s premier players. To be certain, they have both earned their successes.”

Kelson Says: “If this is not the best schedule we’ve ever played, it’s certainly one of the best. There are four new tournaments added to our schedule. We went to the Rod Myers, which was a very nice tournament. The Cabo tour-nament in Mexico – our players thoroughly enjoyed that. We didn’t play very well but it was a great event and a great experience. That was a way for us to reward our outgo-ing seniors with a trip like that.

“The San Diego Intercollegiate is a new tournament co-sponsored by TaylorMade and Lamkin Grips being played at San Di-ego Country Club. It has super-fast greens and that will be one of the premier tourna-ments any of our players will have a chance to play in, so we’re really looking forward to that.

“And the Collegiate Match Play will be a great tournament at a great golf course. We’ll have the opportunity to play some match play that, hopefully, will prove ben-eficial to us at the end of the year.”

SEASON OUTLOOK

Kelson Says: “This facility has turned out even better than expected. We give a great deal of credit to Mark Gossett and his staff (Nick Farragut, Jeff Wolfenbarger). These guys go above and beyond each day to make sure this facility stays in outstanding condition.

“With 28 acres available to practice on, we can create every conceivable shot in the game of golf. We use the three practice holes frequently during our practices to simulate hundreds of different shots and situations.”

NCAA Championship FinalsParticipants Each of Last Three Years

ON THE MACK AND JONNIE DAY GOLF PRACTICE FACILITY...

Kelson Says: “Our team’s primary goal is advancing to the NCAA Finals for a fourth consecutive year. Being able to set the school record of consecutive trips to the finals is very important to this team. Obviously for our program, achieving this goal would be a tremendous boost in a variety of ways.

“Secondly, we are expecting our team to compete for the SEC championship. After coming so close last year, our team knows it is capable of competing against the best teams on that golf course.

ON THE SPRING SEASON...

Kelson Says: “I said when they signed that this was the finest recruiting class I’ve been able to assemble in my coaching career, and I stand by that. They’re exactly what we are looking for in terms of their commitment, their work-ethic, and their talent is unquestionably there. You never know how it’s all going to turn out in the end, but for three players – I would definitely rank that recruiting class among the top five or six in the country. Hopefully, I prove to be right on this.

“All three of those players are extremely long and they drive it very straight, which is a great combination. They have a passion for golf, they’re super-focused and they are coming to the University of Tennessee to win a national championship. Obviously that’s easy to say and ex-tremely difficult to do, but I can’t think of a better mix to work with than these three players.

“We’re really excited about them. They were raised very well, they know right from wrong and they are going to come in and absorb, take in our information and be very good listeners. There’s no question our future is bright with those three on board.”

ON THE 2011 RECRUITING CLASS...

Kelson Says: “Our league is pretty much as it’s always been and obviously very strong. Arkansas and Alabama probably are in the top-eight in the country and then after that, there probably are six other teams that are right there from a rankings standpoint.

“After finishing third last year, we feel like we really know that golf course well and it sets up for us really well. If we play like we’re capable of playing, we feel we can compete.”

ON THE SEC...

“Most importantly to us, however, is ensur-ing that our team is doing the right things on a daily basis to give ourselves the best chance to achieve these goals. We in-creased the difficulty level of our practices to ensure we are training our minds to com-plete and focus at our highest levels. Addi-tionally, we have increased the intensity of our workouts to ensure our players are in top physical condition.”

TOURNEY TESTED Tennessee has claimed 15 tournament titles in Kel-son’s 13-plus seasons at UT, including the 2007 SEC championship in Sea Island, Ga.

ACADEMIC LEADER The Tennessee golf program has led all UT varsity sports on the men’s side in team GPA each of the last two semesters.

Jim Kelson has the Tennessee golf program climbing its way to national prominence.

The Vols already are a major contender. Last spring, Tennes-see was one of just 12 programs in the country to qualify for its third consecutive NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship.

At the NCAA finals, UT has placed in the top 25 the last three seasons and six times overall, including a high of 12th in 2009. The current streak of three straight trips to the NCAA fi-nals marks Tennessee’s best run since the Vols advanced to three consecutive from 1995-97.

Since 2002, the Vols consistently have been ranked among the top 25 teams in the country. From 2007-09, Tennessee’s av-erage national ranking was 14th.

Kelson also has coached UT to 12 consecutive NCAA re-gionals, extending the school record, and a total of six NCAA finals since 2003.

The Vols have captured multiple tournament titles in three of the last five years and four of the last seven. Included was the 2007 SEC Championship, Tennessee’s first league crown in 17 years.

LATE-SEASON SURGELast year, UT finished third at the SEC Championship as

part of a late-season surge that saw the Vols playing their best golf when it mattered most.

But Kelson isn’t settling for simply playing alongside the best programs in golf.

“We were proud of our team’s efforts last post-season and their advancement to the finals, but we expect better than 24th place,” Kelson said. “Our program must become significantly better and that is 100 percent my responsibility.

“We will continue to make improvements to ensure our pro-gram stays on the path of becoming one of the elite teams in the country.”

UT was the No. 6 seed at the 2011 NCAA Indiana-Central Regional. Needing a top-five finish to advance to the NCAA fi-nals, the Vols rallied from seventh place and eight strokes behind on the final day to claim a berth in Stillwater, Okla.

NO. 1 RANKINGKelson’s charges in the fall of 2009 captured the prestigious

Carpet Capital Collegiate for the first time in school history and the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in a scorecard playoff. Those early results pushed the Vols to No. 1 in the Golfstat.com rankings.

Kelson was hired in June 1998 has been building this pro-gram from the day he arrived on campus. The Vols have won 15 tournament championships in his 13-plus seasons. Five dif-ferent campaigns produced multiple tourney titles -- 2001-02 (three), 2004-05 (three), 2006-07 (two), 2007-08 (two) and 2009-10 (two). UT also claimed hardware under Kelson in the 1998-99, 2000-01 and 2005-06 seasons. The Vols under Kelson own 44 top-three finishes.

One of the highlights was capturing the 2007 SEC Champi-

onship, Tennessee’s first league crown in 17 years. At the event, UT finished with three players in the top-10, including two tied for second.

Kelson claimed his first SEC Coach of the Year award.

NUMEROUS AWARDSThe Vols under Kelson have garnered 19 All-SEC honors

and eight All-America selections. Four of his players have been named to the Palmer Cup competitions for collegiate golfers and five earned NCAA Division I Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status.

Kelson, 48, hails from Dallas and graduated in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. He earned his master’s in sports administration from the University of Florida in 1992.

Kelson’s first head coach assignment was leading Augusta State’s only Division I sport. He guided the Jaguars to four ap-pearances in the NCAA Championship from 1993-96 and five

appearances in the NCAA regionals. His teams had 32 top-five finishes in 57 regular-season tour-

naments. Kelson also served as assistant athletics director for compliance while on the Jaguars staff.

Prior to Augusta State, Kelson was assistant coach at Florida under former U.S. Amateur champion Buddy Alexander. Kel-son helped recruit several of the golfers who helped the Gators finish second at the 1993 NCAA Championships.

Kelson has worked with some of the most highly regarded teaching professionals in the world, including Conrad Rehling, Eddie Merrins, Bob Toski, Wally Armstrong, Chuck Cooke, Denis Pugh, Ernie Vaderson and Michael Shannon.

His achievements on the course include the 1983 Oklahoma State Amateur and a third-place finish at the Bermuda Amateur, in addition to competing in the 1982 U.S. Amateur.

Kelson lives in Knoxville with his wife, the former Jinger Fry of Arlington, Texas.

EVEN DOZEN Kelson has coached the Vols to 12 straight NCAA regionals and the Vols are one of just 12 programs to qualify for each of the last three NCAA finals.

Casey VanDamme arrived on the Tennessee golf scene and made immediate inroads.

Now in his third season, VanDamme has helped the Vols equal their best postseason stretch in school history with three consecu-tive trips to the NCAA Championship Finals for the first time since the mid-1990s.

VanDamme took over as assistant coach for the Vols after learning the trade under renowned golf instructor Jim McLean. Van-Damme spent seven years at the Jim McLean Golf School in both Palm Springs, Calif., and Traverse City, Mich., becoming the youngest Master Instructor in school history.

“Casey joined our staff as a very accom-plished pro golf instructor,” Vols head coach Jim Kelson said. “Teaching and instruction have been focal points in our program for sev-eral years. These two components are really at the core of our program here at UT.”

VanDamme’s teaching experience included working with some of the finest players on the PGA Tour, and he was an on-site teaching professional to a participant in the 2009 PGA Championship.

“I continue to be impressed with Casey’s knowledge of the game and his understanding and expertise as a teacher of golf,” Kelson said. “He possesses a thorough and complex under-standing of the mechanics of a golf swing, but his methods of teaching and development are simplified for his students.

“This unique ability ideally qualifies Casey to be a member of our staff.”

VanDamme brought a dozen years of golf instruction to the Vols.

In his UT debut season, VanDamme coached three golfers to postseason SEC hon-ors. David Holmes and Robin Wingardh were named to the All-SEC second team, while Jay Vandeventer was a Freshman All-SEC selec-tion. Last year, Wingardh again was named All-SEC second team and Danny Keddie earned Freshman All-SEC honors.

VanDamme debuted as a collegiate golfer at Marquette before finishing at Northern Michi-gan, where he graduated in 2000. He began his tenure under Jim McLean in 1998 while

MEET THE VOLUNTEERS

UT HEAD COACHJIM KELSONOn the 2011 Signing Class ...

“I said when they signed that this was the fin-est recruiting class I’ve been able to assemble in my coaching career, and I stand by that. They’re exactly what we are looking for in terms of their commitment, their work-ethic, and their talent is unquestionably there. You never know how it’s all going to turn out in the end, but for three play-ers – I would definitely rank that recruiting class among the top five or six in the country. Hope-fully, I prove to be right on this.

“All three of those players are extremely long and they drive it very straight, which is a great combi-nation. They have a passion for golf, they’re super-focused and they are coming to the University of Tennessee to win a national championship. Obvi-ously that’s easy to say and extremely difficult to do, but I can’t think of a better mix to work with than these three players.

“We’re really excited about them. They were raised very well, they know right from wrong and they are going to come in and absorb, take in our in-formation and be very good listeners. There’s no question our future is bright with those three on board.”

Golf Again Tops UT Men’s Team GPAThe Tennessee golf program made it back-to-back semesters

with the highest grade-point average of all nine UT varsity teams.

UT golfers had a 3.41 GPA for spring 2011 and a 3.45 average in the fall.

Also as a squad, Tennessee golf earned All-Academic Team rec-ognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Two golfers, Justin Walker and Darren Renwick, were named to the SEC’s Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Walker, a management major, was on the list for the third time in addition to his inclusion on the SEC’s Freshman Academic Honor Roll after his redshirt season of 2008. Renwick, majoring in logistics, was honored for the second time, also in addition to being on the 2009 freshman academic listing. Renwick later was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for 2011 by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

All three of Tennessee’s 2010-11 freshmen -- Danny Keddie, Brandon Rodgers and Marshall Talkington -- were named to the 2011 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

Remaining members of the 2010-11 men’s golf team who contributed to academic excellence were Garrick Porteous, Jay Vandeventer and Robin Wingardh.

Vols head coach Jim Kelson has placed 59 student-athletes on

the SEC’s Academic Honor Roll since taking the Tennessee reins in the 1998-99 season. Twenty-four of those honorees have been named in the last five years.

Twice is NiceIt’s been more than 20 years, and Eric Rebmann re-

mains the only Vol to earn Academic All-America honors twice, doing so in 1986 and 1987.

Rebmann, who majored in finance, lettered for the Vols from 1984-87 and was Academic All-Southeastern Con-ference three times.

He was no slouch with the golf clubs either. As a sopho-more in 1985, he fired a 205 to win the Chris Schenkel In-vitational in Statesboro, Ga. He also earned second-team All-SEC honors that season.

After his senior year, he finished runner-up at the U.S. Amateur.

QUALIFYING COURSES

YARDAGE: 6,472 PAR: 70

Founded in 1907 on hills overlooking the Ten-nessee River, Cherokee is Knoxville’s most exclusive golf club. Its current layout was designed in the early 1920s by Donald Ross during the pinnacle of his career, and since 2000 the club has restored the course to Ross’ archi-tectural designs and phi-losophy. The fairways are tight and tree-lined, with fast undulating bentgrass greens. Six difficult par-3 holes provide players with a strong challenge.

CHEROKEE COUNTRY CLUB

YARDAGE: 7,110 PAR: 72

Fox Den’s champion-ship golf course has hosted the Nationwide Tour’s Knoxville Open since 1999. Designer Willard Byrd posi-tioned the course perfectly against the backdrop of the Smoky Mountains when it opened in 1969. Fox Den boasts rollings hills, beautiful wooded areas and long fairway stretches. A complete redesign took place in 2004 to enhance the bentgrass greens and tree-lined, well-bunkered fairways. Water hazards are a factor on the closing 13th, 16th and 18th greens.

UT & CITY OF KNOXVILLE

The Princeton Review ranked UT as one of the top 50 universities in the nation in 2009 for “best value,” based on the quality of academics and amount of financial aid compared to costs.

The Princeton Review named UT as a “Best Southeastern College” for its high standards and outstanding reputation among higher education institutions in the Southeast.

Forbes Magazine ranks the UT MBA program 24th among all national programs.

U.S. News & World Report placed the College of Law’s clinical training program in 15th place among national public institutions.

The UT nuclear engineering program ranks 12th in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report.

UT has been named a Top 100 degree producer for African-American doctorate degrees, according to DIVERSE: Issues in Higher Education magazine.

THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEEThe University of Tennessee intends to be the preeminent public research and teaching university linking the people of Tennessee to the nation and the world.

Founded as Blount College in 1794, UT became the state’s first public university and its comprehensive land-grant research institution in 1879. Tennessee’s only public Carnegie Doctoral/Research-Extensive University, UT ranked 51st among U.S. News and World Report’s Top Public Universities in the country.

The University’s colleges and schools include more than 8,300 faculty and staff servicing its 27,523 students, who come from every county in Tennessee, every state in the nation and more than 100 foreign countries. Females account for 51 percent of the student body and the university has a 14.2 percent total minority enrollment.

Tennessee boasts a 550-acre campus, housing 220 buldings. The landscape houses more than 300 degree programs and more than 300,000 alumni call Rocky Top home.

CITY OF KNOXVILLE

Knoxville has a metro population of more than 700,000 and is surrounded by seven lakes. It is 45 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the country’s most-visited park.

It is the nation’s No. 1-ranked medium-size market for “Best Cities for Relocating Families” by Bert Sperling’s BestPlaces. The final ranking represented one of the most sophisticated comparative studies available on how location affects a family’s relocation success and emphasized on home prices, indexed home affordability, appreciation rates, property taxes and rent costs.

Metro Knoxville also was named No. 10 on the list of Forbes Magazine “Best Places for Business and Careers.”

The city has grown into a cosmopolitan area with numerous attractions and more than 500 restaurants. It serves as the headquarters to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the nation’s largest public utility, and is known as a technology corridor of the Southeast.

Knoxville is located in the geographical center of the eastern United States and is within a day’s drive of half the nation’s population. Knox County is situated at the crossroads of three major interstates, I-75, I-40 and I-81.

It also is where country music star Kenny Chesney was raised and is the birthplace of famous movie creator Quentin Tarantino.

VOLUNTEERS

The state received the “Volunteer” moniker in the 19th century for Tennesseans’ willingness to serve their country.

During the Mexican War, Gov. Aaron Brown issued a call requesting 2,800 volunteers for mili-tary service; he got 30,000 respondents.

The Atlanta Constitution was the first to call UT athletes “Volunteers,” after a Tennessee-Georgia Tech football game. The name stuck.

SMOKEY

No one is quite sure if UT picked Smokey or if Smokey picked UT.

Back in 1953, the UT Pep Club sponsored a contest for a live mascot, and a bluetick hound responded to the crowd with a howl.

Today, Smokey IX is famous for leading the Vols through the “T” prior to each home football game. A costumed version of Smokey emerged in the 1970s and was redesigned in 1982 to look more like the dog of today. Known to sport a tuxedo, overalls, or a Big Orange jersey, he’s a top collegiate mascot and a star both on and off the field.

THE HILL

The hill is symbolic of higher education in the state. UT, founded in downtown Knoxville in 1794 as Blount College, moved to the Hill in 1828 and quickly grew around it. The main part of UT’s old campus stands on this rising bank above the north shore of the Tennessee River.

SCHOOL COLORS

UT’s distinctive orange color was inspired by a small cluster of orange and white daisies on the Hill.

In 1889, UT athletics association president Charles Moore spotted the flowers and chose the school’s colors in homage. The colors soon

appeared on athletic uniforms and has permeated nearly every item in East Tennessee, from cloth-ing to cars.

THE VOLUNTEER STATUE

The Volunteer Statue—more commonly known as the Torchbearer—is made of Knox dolomite and originated from a student contest held by the classes of 1928 through 1932.

It was adopted as the official symbol of the university in 1932, but the Great Depression and World War II delayed the statue being cast and displayed until 1968. It bears the words of inspiration: “One that beareth a torch standeth in shadow to give light to others.”

THE ROCK

Walk through campus and you’ll see a giant, 98-ton, Knox dolomite rock serving as a communi-cation hub and palette of expression for the UT community.

Unearthed in the 1960s, the Rock is a geologi-cal message board of every color. It changes often with hellos and goodbyes, birthday wishes, sports championships, marriage proposals, and political endorsements. Pretty much anything goes.

It is so iconic, even the independent campus ra-dio station, WUTK-FM, shares its namesake. It’s called 90.3 The Rock, and it plays—what else?—rock music.

ROCKY TOP

UT’s official alma mater is “On a Hallowed Hill,” but its unofficial theme song is the ever-popular “Rocky Top.”

Written by Felice and Boudleaux Bryant in 1967, the couple also wrote hits such as Buddy Holly’s “Wake up, Little Susie” and the Everly Brothers’ “Bye, Bye Love.”

First played by the UT Pride of the Southland Band in 1972, “Rocky Top” quickly became a staple of UT sporting events and was named one of the state’s official songs in 1982.

THE VOLS rallied down the stretch last season to finish third at the SEC Championship, fourth at the NCAA Regional and 24th at the NCAA Championship.

y VOLS CLOSE SEASON IN 24TH STILLWATER, Okla. - Tennessee fancied a better finish, but the Vols had to settle for their third straight top-25 result. UT played directly to its seeding of 24th out of 30 teams at the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship.

“While we played better over the second and third rounds, un-fortunately our first round just put us too far behind,” UT head coach Jim Kelson said.

Tennessee shot 303 to tie for the 16th-best round of the final day at breezy Karsten Creek Golf Club. In the second round, the Vols also tied for the 16th best score. But it was starting in 27th place that sealed the team’s fate.

“Obviously, this was not the finish we had hoped for,” Kelson said.

The Vols closed the tournament with solid rounds of 73 from Garrick Porteous, 74 from Darren Renwick and 75 by Robin Wingardh, but couldn’t get that fourth wheel to stage a come-back that, realistically, was aiming only for a top-20 result. Jay Vandeventer closed out the UT scoring with an 81, and Danny Keddie added 82.

“We were proud of our team’s efforts this post-season and their advancement to the finals, but we expect better than 24th place,” Kelson said. “Our program must become significantly better and that is 100 percent my responsibility.

“We will continue to make improvements to ensure our pro-gram stays on the path of becoming one of the elite teams in the country.”

This was Tennessee’s third straight trip to the NCAA finals,

matching the best three-year run in school history. Kelson now has coached the Vols to 12 consecutive NCAA regionals, ex-tending the school record, and six NCAA finals since 2003.

y OKLAHOMA! VOLS RALLY FOR FINALS BERTH ZIONSVILLE, Ind. - Tennessee pulled into the Wolf Creek Golf Club for the NCAA Central Regional final round and almost immediately started mowing down the competition.

Charlotte? Check.

Stanford? Only took a few holes.

Why, the Vols even chased down Iowa before the day was through and punched their ticket into the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship in Stillwater, Okla.

“We are thrilled,” UT head coach Jim Kelson said. “This may have been the best we have played this year under the extreme circumstances we had here today. Under the gun, this was a great round.”

OK, so it wasn’t quite an easy afternoon at the local pitch-and-putt. But Tennessee burst from the gate on a treacherous golf course and made up an eight-stroke deficit with plenty to spare, rallying to an impressive fourth-place tie.

Tennessee carded a 3-under-par 281 in the final round to fin-ish at 13-over 865, even with Iowa (865) and four strokes clear of Stanford (869). The Cardinal entered the day in fifth place, eight strokes ahead of Tennessee, but shot a final-round 293 for its worse score of the tournament.

The Vols entered the final round mired in seventh place and needing to play their best golf of the weekend. They did that and

more, mimicking a Peyton Manning and Indianapolis Colts’ two-minute drill -- only at the start of the day.

“I think they knew this was a hard-enough golf course that we could make up eight shots,” said Kelson, who received a good-luck call before the tournament began from Manning, a Wolf Run member and proud Vols alumnus. “Typically, it’s pretty tough to make up eight shots on teams as good as Stanford or Iowa. But on a course this hard with just a little bit of wind, if you go out and play pretty well, you can make that up.

“We needed a hot start and we got after it.”

y VOLS, WINGARDH CLAIM THIRD AT SEC GOLF Tennessee and senior captain Robin Wingardh held on to capture a pair of third-place finishes at the SEC Men’s Golf Championships in Sea Island, Ga.

2010-11 SEASON REVIEW

It was UT’s best showing at the league tournament since win-ning it all in 2007, and Wingardh continued his outstanding form with his fifth top-10 result in the last seven outings.

The Vols carded their best round of the weekend, a 3-over-par 283 that left the team at 16-over 856 for the three days at Sea Island Golf Club.

“We were very proud of our team’s effort this week,” UT head coach Jim Kelson said. “Robin had another super week and was right there at the end, challenging for the individual title.”

Wingardh shot his second 1-under-par 69 for the weekend and missed out on the playoff by one stroke, finishing at even-par 210. Teammate Danny Keddie shot 70 in his final round to finish in a tie for sixth place at 212, while UT’s three other com-petitors tied for 25th place at 219. Garrick Porteous shot 71 and Jay Vandeventer 73 to close out the Sunday scoring for Tennes-see, while Darren Renwick carded a 75.

y WINGARDH ALL-AMERICA HONORABLE MENTIONFormer Tennessee golfer Robin Wingardh added yet another recognition to his collegiate resume by earning a place on the Division I Ping All-America Honorable Mention Team.

Wingardh already had been named to the 2011 Division I Ping All-Region Team, and earlier was selected to the All-SEC second team for the third straight year.

“Robin worked so hard for us and we are very proud to have had him as a member of our program,” Vols head coach Jim Kelson said.

Wingardh, who served as team captain for 2010-11, helped the Vols to NCAA finals appearances in each of his last three seasons in Knoxville to match the best three-year run in UT program history. Tennessee placed 12th, 25th and 24th nationally in those championship events.

The Morarp, Sweden, native led UT in scoring average (72.36) and rounds of par or better (16). His high score of the year was 78 at the NCAA regional, and four times he turned in 68s for low round. At this year’s SEC Championship, Wingardh twice shot 69 and tied for third place -- part of a seven-tournament stretch in which he recorded five top-10s.

y GOLF TOPS MEN’S SPRING GRADESMen’s golf turned in the spring semester’s top grade-point aver-age on campus among male varsity teams and placed two indi-viduals on the SEC’s Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Justin Walker and Darren Renwick, both of whom just com-pleted their junior seasons, were named to the Academic All-SEC squad. Walker is majoring in management and Renwick in logistics.

Walker is on the SEC’s Academic Honor Roll for the third time in addition to his inclusion on the SEC’s Freshman Academic Honor Roll after his redshirt season of 2008. Renwick made the 2009 Freshman Academic Honor Roll and also was on the Academic All-SEC team in 2010.

The men’s team GPA of 3.41 led all nine UT varsity squads for the spring semester. The remaining members of the 2010-11 men’s golf team were Danny Keddie, Garrick Porteous, Bran-don Rodgers, Marshall Talkington, Jay Vandeventer and Robin Wingardh.

y RENWICK NAMED ALL-AMERICA SCHOLARTennessee’s Darren Renwick has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for 2011 by the Golf Coaches As-sociation of America, it was announced Wednesday.

Renwick previously was named to the Academic All-SEC squad for the second time in two eligible seasons. The logistics major compiled a 74.69 stroke average for 36 competitive rounds in 2010-11, with one top-10 finish.

ROUNDS OF PAR OR BETTER

y Tennessee combined for 50 individual rounds of par or better during the 2010-11 season. Se-nior captain Robin Wing-ardh led the way with 16.

NCAA APPEARANCESy Exactly half of Ten-nessee 24 all-time NCAA postseason tournament appearances have come under currnet Vols head coach Jim Kelson.

ROUNDS IN THE 60Sy Tennessee notched 19 rounds that broke into the 60s in 2010-11. Eight of those rounds were contrib-uted by Robin Wingardh, with Garrick Porteous added five.
