Objectivesof the 2011 Census
• Improving coverage is the primary goal of the 2011 Census.
• Ensure the relevance of the Census data to users and providers.
• Use resources effectively and efficiently.
• Continue to protect the privacy of individuals and households.

Some key points Once implemented, the ASGS will provide
more stability for time series data from 2011 Census onwards
SLAs are not part of the ASGS ABS will provide data at the SLA level for the
2011 Census only LGAs are still a part of the ASGS and will
continue to be provided SA1s are the new base unit of output for the
2011 Census CDs are not included in the new geography

• While data came out on time, there were delays in product release
