The Little Lost The Little Lost CornerCorner

One sunny day two neighbors decided to put up a new fence. Neither new exactly where their property corner was as the fence was very old. They decided to look around their property to see if they could find it.

They came upon a very large rock. “Are you our property corner?” they asked.“No.” said the rock. “I am just a rock. I am currently working as a landscape feature.”Disappointed, the neighbors walked away and continued searching.

Sometime later they came upon a wooden stake with what looked like a blue rooster tail. “This must be our property corner!” said the neighbors excitedly. But the stake spoke up “No, I am not a corner. I was put here by the Water Company to mark your waterline easement.” So the neighbors kept searching.

After many hours the neighbors decided to abandon their search.“Our property corner must be lost” one said. “How do we find it?”“I have a good idea” said the other. “Let’s call Cubit Engineering. I’ll bet they can find it like they found neighbor Bob’s corner down the street.”

So they called Cubit Engineering and spoke to a lovely lady named Karen who scheduled a Survey Crew to come to their property the next day and find their Little Lost Corner. Karen gave the information to the Land Surveyor who researched their property records and found maps showing the corner’s location.

The next morning the Survey Crew arrived at the property with copies of maps and the latest in advanced GPS, Total Stations and Magnetic Locators. They quickly set up and began surveying the property. In a few hours the Survey Chief contacted the neighbors and led them to a location at the rear of their properties.

“Here is your corner” the Survey Chief said. “It was buried under a few inches of soil. It was not lost at all. If you like I can raise it to surface and set a shiny new tag. I will also file a Corner Record with the County Surveyor for future reference.”The neighbors were pleased and told everyone how wonderful Cubit Engineering was.
