Presidents Report from Kristin Ballard
Hi everyone – hopefully the rain stops for a little while and gives everyone a chance to recover!
Our guest speaker for last week’s meeting was Alison Beresford, Digital Switchover Liaison Officer from the Digital Ready Helpline – this discussion about the changeover to digital TV was veryhelpful to all of us.
Natalie attended the training for presidents for 2012-13 last weekend – I am sure she has lots of jobs for everyone?!
Natalie and I attended dinner for the committee of the Relay for Life – where Tara again thanked
everyone who assisted in every way with the first Relay for Life in Queanbeyan - the total is nowover $96,000! Tara has her next one this weekend in Young and they have had over 220mls (over 8ins) of rain so gumboots are the first order of the day – they also have a Hawaiian theme.
Our guest speaker for this week’s meeting is Bill Fraser, Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. We will
also be having a joint meeting with Canberra East – look forward to seeing you there.

On behalf of Rotary club of Bungendore I would like to invite your club to a very special evening on the 13thMarch. This will be a public lecture.
Laser play many important roles in our daily life without them many technologies, which we take for granted, would come to a halt. Where did the laser come from? Who invented it and why took it so long? What might happen in the Future? This lecture, with demonstrations, will look at the concepts and peoplebehind the laser.
Hans was recently on the new inventors TV show and also has received the AM on Australia day for hiswork in the sciences and work with youth in NYSF. He is also a very active member in our club.
Please advise by email if your members would like to attend.

A man walks into a bar and orders a beer.
He takes his first sip and sets it down.
While he is looking around the bar, a monkey swings
down and steals the pint of beer from him before he
is able to stop the monkey.
The man asks the bartender who owns the monkey. The bartender replies the piano player.
The man walks over to the piano player and says
"Do you know your monkey stole my beer."
The pianist replies
"No, but if you hum it, I'll play it."
