KJTH-The House FM is a 100,000-watt, listener-supported radio station located in Ponca City, Oklahoma broadcasting at 89.7 FM. One of the translators for KJTH is in Wichita, Kansas on 100.1 FM. The House FM broadcasts “Focus on the Family” each weekday morning from 5:30-6:00 and plays a CHR format the rest of the day. So, when you’re in the mood for music from tobyMac, Skillet, Jeremy Camp, Hawk Nelson, or any other CHR artist – you’ll know … Where Christian Hits Live!!!

The House FM is a local radio station for Oklahoma and southern Kansas. We desire to be involved in our communities developing personal relationships with our listeners.

Kid DJ Day, held on June 2, 2011, is one of our favorite ways to interact with listeners and listeners-to-be of all ages each year. We sent invitations home with 4464 children from 16 area schools. We introduced children in our listening area to Christian radio, giving them the opportunity to see what it is like to be a radio DJ. This exciting, FREE day at the radio station saw 476 kids and their families participate in a fun-filled family-oriented day with activities outside like inflatable games, face painting, a photo booth and free snow cones. Inside, not only did every child have a chance to talk on the radio, but there was also a professional Storm Chaser from one of the television stations on hand to share weather stories and a safety demonstration with the kids. Every child received a recording of their time on the radio.

L to R: Don Burns-Station Manger, Janelle Keith-Promotions Director, Doyle Brewer-CEO/Founder, Brent McCoy-Morning Show host; Ponca City Police Chief Don Bohon, and Lindsay DeBoard pause for a photo op after a planning session.

A special Father’s Day Outreach was held Sunday, June 19 for inmates in area correctional facilities -- the James Crabtree Correctional Facility (Helena, OK), Winfield Correctional Center, Wichita Work Release Facility, Enid Community Corrections Center, and Davis Correctional Facility (Holdenville, OK). Inmates received specially designed postcards they could use to invite their family and friends to call in to give a special Father’s

Day greeting to them. Over 40 greetings were aired to help families connect with the dads on Father’s Day.

The House FM teamed up with two area schools as part of the Partners In Education (PIE) Project. For Ponca City High School we provided music for the pre-prom Promenade, prizes for the After-Prom Party, and prizes, an emcee, and music for the Great Escape – a party at the end of the year for the students. For Ponca City Christian Academy, The House FM had the opportunity to partner with students in an outreach project for Operation Christmas Child. Helping with their BBQ Bash/Dinner. We also provided the music for the dinner, the sound system for the talent show, and items for the fundraiser auction.

At back-to-school time in September, The House FM partnered with the local high school and the local police department to provide a drug-, alcohol-, and tobacco-free event for high school students called 2M2L (Too Much To Lose) as a kick-off for the 2011-2012 school year. Station staff assisted in organizing much of the event including: designing and distributing flyers and

posters for students, helping with prize giveaways (almost $3,000 in prizes were given away), coordinating contests and games, having Oklahoma State University athletes come and speak about making positive choices, and having one of our DJ’s emcee the event. Over 400 students attended this free event.

In October 2011, The House FM was part of Celebration Stillwater. Over 5000 local people attended this community event.

Brent McCoy, Morning Show host, had the opportunity to reach out to students from elementary through college age as he spoke in 17 area schools, talking about making positive choices and the benefits of listening to Christian music.

The House FM helped listeners celebrate their hard-working ministers by honoring them during Minister Appreciation Month in October for their dedication to the cause of Christ. Teaming up with Silver Dollar City in Branson, one pastor was awarded a getaway including theme park passes, a three-night stay at a Branson bed and breakfast, and a $300 Visa card to help with travel and meals. Registrants had the opportunity to share how they support their ministers and what they love about their church!

In November 2011, The House FM teamed with the Salvation Army in several cities in Oklahoma and southern Kansas to collect frozen turkeys from listeners to provide Thanksgiving dinners for needy families. The event was called Turkey for Tunes and listeners could bring a frozen turkey to our live remote broadcast at one of 9 Wal-Marts, and in exchange pick up a brand new Christmas CD. Our generous listeners provided 295 turkeys just in time for Thanksgiving.

Major Michael Barnhouse and Jenn Derrick, Assistant Promotions Director / House Party co-host display some of the turkeys donated to the Salvation Army by generous House FM listeners.

Brent McCoy, Morning Show host, interviews Pastors Blaine & Deb Herron of Ponca City Foursquare Church about how the church can support and encourage its ministry staff with acts of kindness and appreciation.

Also in November, The House FM collected over 1400 shoeboxes full of toys for Samaritan’s Purse’ Operation Christmas Child that were destined for children in Mexico. We worked with local businesses, churches, and schools to rally support for the collection of filled shoeboxes. The station also served as the local relay center for the collection of shoeboxes and coordinated the transport of boxes to the

main collection center in Tulsa. Promotion of the event was implemented with on-air promotion including live mentions and recorded PSAs, as well as information on our website directing people to all of the different collection points in the area. We used our bi-monthly newsletter and bulk email to give Operation Christmas Child additional promotion, and sent press releases to local media outlets.

In December, The House FM co-hosted two FREE Addison Road concerts for our listeners. Families were able to spend an enjoyable and affordable evening together singing Christmas carols with Addison Road, and hearing all about the stories behind their songs.

Starting in December 2011, and going into the new year, The House FM purchased the rights to show the movie Courageous FOR FREE throughout the listening area. We were able to show the movie at 14 different locations with over 5,000 people attending. Each showing included a time when people could come and pray/talk with a counselor at the end of the film. We also promoted other licensed showings on air and on our website.

lives of those bold enough to pray. He not only gave answers to problems, in some cases He provided the most amazingly creative answers. That’s what happens when you pray expectantly for God to work! testimony

We invited listeners to pray a simple three-word prayer … “Surprise Me God”. God certainly moved in the

I prayed surprise me God for a week. This past week was Christian unity week at my university. That's where we hand out Bibles and hot chocolate for free at my secular campus. After having prayed surprise me God for a week yesterday a young lady accepted Christ after hearing the gospel for the first time in her life. She is an international student from China. Please pray for her. For me to witness this was beautiful and encouraging and the best surprise that I've ever had. -- Alexandra, Canada

Janelle Keith-Promotions Director and Andy Youso-Assistant Program Director traveled to Swaziland, Africa with Children’s Cup in October to work as part of a passionate team, serving as the hands and feet of Christ. In a country where 42% of the population is affected by HIV, helping relieve the hunger of children served

by Children’s Cup was an opportunity to bring a message of hope. In one instance, the team raised funds to buy 18 chickens they helped prepare to feed 256 children, with a second meal of “Walkie-Talkie” soup using the ‘leftover’ heads and feet. Those first-hand experiences provided the catalyst to add a new mission emphasis to our annual Pledge Drive. With every pledge of $30 a month or more, some generous contributors made an additional donation to feed a child in Swaziland, Africa for a month. At the close of pledge drive, 38,250 meals were provided just by listeners catching the vision of extending compassion to hurting children in Swaziland in partnership with Children’s Cup.

In an effort to encourage local churches, The House FM offers a Church of the Week initiative. We feature the pastor on the air the week they are our “Church of the Week.” The pastors

normally tell in their free on-air spot about their church and give an endorsement of the ministry the radio station has. The church is featured on our website as well. A staff member visits the church during a Sunday morning service to thank them for their service to the Kingdom and encourage members with the ministry opportunities from the radio station. With the Church of the Week efforts, over 5900 members have been encouraged in their faith journey with not only God’s Word that they hear in the sermons but also from the ministry of The House FM. A verse that sums up the idea is found in Galatians 6:9-10 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

TheHouseFM.com website underwent a complete redesign the summer of 2011, making it more listener-friendly and content-focused than ever before. Headlines are clearly marked with large eye-capturing images that auto-rotate in a slideshow format. Most common pages visited turned into familiar iPhone-like app icons. Listeners always know what song is playing, along with the DJ that is encouraging them with a quick glance of the "Now Playing" section in the upper right hand corner of the website.

"The House FM TV" is our YouTube channel with the latest promotional videos, “McCoy in the Morning” Daily News Blasts, and event recaps. “McCoy in the Morning” News Blasts have been especially beneficial to listeners who don't keep up with the news in the morning. By cross-posting to Facebook daily, we bring news to where people are now, not waiting for them to come to us. On the playlist, all the listener needs to do is press “play,” and a playlist with dozens of videos will automatically run for them right in the website for viewing convenience. The House FM Blogs have always been a great place for listeners and DJ's to connect, and with the new revamp, they are more accessible than ever. Right below The House FM TV is a rotating panel with the 4 different blogs that can encourage and empower listeners. There’s Brent's Blog, written by Brent McCoy, Morning Show host. His posts are very funny--and insightful when you least expect it. Janelle's blog is helmed by Morning Show co-host Janelle Keith, and pours her heart out onto listeners’ screens every weekday. Tony's New Music blog is the domain of Program Director Tony Weir, where listeners can catch up with what is going on with their favorite artists, and discover new acts that will soon become their favorite. The House Party blog is co-written by House Party hosts Andy and Jenn, who have an eclectic mix of advice, humor, and spiritual challenges. The House FM is reaching beyond the U.S.A with our Internet streaming. According to StreamGuys, The House FM had over 12,000 unique online listeners during a one-week period in October 2011. We often receive notes like this from our international listeners in telling us how much they appreciate the music we play and how impressed they are that they can listen halfway across the world. “Awesome stuff guys. love using the iphone app in my pocket as I work, or stream it on my computer. We don’t have any decent radio in our rural town, let alone Christian so yours rocks! From TAS (small island state of Australia) -- James, Smithton, Australia We received contributions last year from online listeners in 22 countries including Australia, China, Ecuador, France, Denmark, Malaysia, and Latvia. It truly is a small glimpse of Heaven, as every nation, tribe, and tongue can worship God all through our radio ministry. There's more than meets the eye on our web player, too. In a coverflow style format, listeners keep up to date with the latest station information via colorful banners. They also get the artist and title information, plus the ability to rate every song right in the player window. The House FM player goes beyond the current song played and displays a comprehensive playlist on the "social toolbar." Also on the toolbar, are Twitter, Facebook and YouTube feeds. Popular links like the 7-Day Playlist grace the far right column, making The House FM web player more than just a music machine—it’s a destination.

One of the places on our website where we have seen God work in incredible ways is our Prayer Wall. Developed in-house and now touching the lives of thousands of listeners, we truly believe that miracles happen there every day through God's people connecting and praying for each other. Prayer requests can be posted anonymously, to encourage those who don't know where else to turn and offer a safe place to be lifted up in prayer. A great feature of the prayer wall is that people can “click” when they have prayed for that person and the prayer total goes up. If the person requesting prayer left their email address they get an email telling them someone has prayed for them. Also visitors to the prayer wall can write a personal note and it will be delivered without ever posting the email address and keeping the requestor anonymous. In September, we celebrated the one year anniversary of our on-line Prayer Wall. Over 3700 prayer requests had been posted at that time and nearly 57,000 prayers have been indicated through the interactive links.

We also interact with listeners receiving feedback about our music and ministry. Listeners are invited to join The House Music Crew which is an on-line music research tool. These bi-weekly surveys enable feedback about individual songs and allow responses on different questions

Because there is a whole generation of listeners that don't use the "phone" part of their phone, we have leveraged a few different texting services to be as accessible as possible.

Our text line at 904-HOUSEFM has received over 10,000 texts since its inception a few years ago and is an important method of communication regarding questions, comments, and requests. We also have received texts from people coming to us for help, not knowing where else to turn, including this text from July 18, 2011 at 3:07 AM - "Last nite I was driving and drinking. I'm 16 and I was flipping through the radio and I came to your station and last nite came on by skillet. I sat there driving listening to the words and after the song was over I called my mom and told her what was going on & she picked me up & I just wanted to say thanks ....."

We also use texting to send timely updates to House FM fans when they sign up for the free House FM Text Blast. This service sends out 2 texts a week with information about upcoming events, promotions, and exclusive contests available only to text blast subscribers. This list has over 500 members.

Page 15: 2012 Christian Music Broadcasters “Radio Station of the ... · PDF file2012 Christian Music Broadcasters “Radio Station of the Year ... Where Christian Hits Live ... City Christian

Knowing that Christian radio is all about playing songs to reach people in their time of need, we also developed an in-house "Favorite Song Alert" system to ensure listeners never again miss that song that encourages them. Listeners can sign up for this service for free on our website. They can choose as many songs as they would like for free, then choose to receive alerts via text or email. Then, 10 minutes before their favorite song is about to play, they will receive the alert to listen. We have had hundreds use this service to catch the songs they love and be uplifted wherever they are.

Listeners can find The House FM on Twitter, a growing community of over 2000 people sharing insights into music and their favorite artists

in 140 characters or less. Listeners often connect with us through Twitter, and we quickly respond, encourage, and of course, retweet. They can also discover their favorite artists on Twitter by following The House FM's artist list, or if they want to know what their favorite DJ had for lunch, they can follow The House FM's DJ list. Facebook has been used for incredible change in the world in the past few years, and we believe that God has given us a platform to encourage, empower, and entertain listeners through this thriving social network. Nearing 20,000 likes, it can be easy to look back and take a breath to see what we've done, but we know there is more work to be done, so we are doing promotions and contests on Facebook on a weekly basis. Every weekend is Free Facebook Friday, where listeners can enter to win exclusive prizes and experiences only available to our Facebook friends. Thousands have signed up, with many making it a point to enter every weekend. We have also used Facebook to pass on important information regarding severe weather updates. People may not be glued to their TV anymore, but we know we can save lives by posting locations and updates of Tornado warnings to their Facebook Feeds, reaching them in a way that may be the only way to save their lives.

McCoy in the Morning also produces a weekly podcast for people to sample the best of what the morning show has to offer. From deep spiritual thoughts to conversations about cats, the podcast has something for everyone. This is more than an "aircheck" from the morning show, this is a carefully and meticulously curated audio file with only the best from McCoy in the Morning, put together by audio artist (and DJ) Brent McCoy.

The future of new media will be all mobile, and The House FM has been on the forefront since the beginning. We were the first Christian Radio Station to have an app on the iPhone years ago, and are continuing to update our app by partnering with Jacobs Media, adding more information and social ability to our app. We now have ways for almost any smartphone to listen to us including our Android app. The numbers of people accessing our website via mobile devices continues to grow as well, so a revamp of the website for smaller screens makes it easier for people to click and connect, no matter what device they use. Sometimes, mobile devices are used out of necessity. During times of severe weather, listeners don't have the ability to transport their desktops or even laptops to their storm shelter. However, they can bring their phone, and be able to access The House FM stream as well as check radar and the latest warnings without having to leave the safety of their shelter. Now, being in a "safe place" takes on a whole new dimension.

The House FM is always looking for ways to share the gospel with as many people as possible. From being the first Christian station to have an app for the iPhone, to showing the movie Courageous to over 5,000 people in Oklahoma and Kansas for free, to having a feature on our website where listeners can sign up to be alerted when their favorite song is about to play on the radio, we attempt to lead in creative ways of reaching more people with the Good News. We are a member of the Christian Music Broadcasters, and attend many of the meetings and teleconferences. The House FM is also a member of the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, and has won the Community Service Award for 6 years in a row.

Doyle Brewer, CEO / Founder, is the School Board President for Ponca City Christian Academy serving students Pre-K 3 to 8th grade.

He is also a trustee and on the Operations Committee and Audit Committee for the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, an organization that provided hope and homes to children and young adults at its seven locations in Oklahoma last year. With a budget of $10 million and 121 staff, OBHC provided a home to 268 children and young mothers on its four residential campuses, and its three Hope Pregnancy

Centers recorded 5,190 client visits from 1,737 new clients. Its services also include maternity services, a maternity home, AfterCare for former residents, and a toll-free help line.

Our CEO, Doyle Brewer, has been mentoring KJRF in Lawton, OK, helping them expand their ministry through streaming online.

Janelle Keith, Promotions Director, displays the Community Service Awards The House FM has received from the Oklahoma Broadcasters Association.
