“Personally I am grateful for a program like AsiaLearn to exist, because without this program and their understanding, I would be back in Suffolk rather than enjoying the treasures of Hong Kong. I think those who choose to study abroad not only learn the culture of a new country, but truly learn about themselves.

What will youdiscover?

“At no part of the trip could I stop and not feel that the whole experience was simply incredible. The complacencies and comforts of life dispatched, suddenly I was thrust into a world apart from all that I had ever known and understood. I came to Hong Kong and found exactly what I wanted – a chance not just to coast through an easy life, but grab hold and squeeze every drop of adventure from the opportunities that lay before me.”

- B. Bowers, University of Hong KongUniversity of North Carolina

Asia is an ideal study abroad destination for students wishing for a true cultural learning experience. Students across all majors will find opportunities to fulfill degree requirements on AsiaLearn’s study abroad programs in this exciting part of the world. AsiaLearn’s partner universities offer a wide range of courses instructed in english, so language proficiency is not a requirement. However enrolling in language classes while studying in Asia is strongly encouraged in order to experience a deeper connection with the local culture.

Asia is home to approximately three-fifths of the world’s population and many fascinating societies with strong cultural roots that are distinctly different from those of the West. The contrast of cultures and the treasures of ancient civilizations have always attracted the adventurous and curious, but the emergence of Asian economic giants has captured and held the attention of a more diverse crowd from all around the world. The 21st century will likely be defined by the countries of Asia, and our lives will be shaped by their actions and influences. Therefore, it is of critical importance that our future leaders have an understanding and appreciation of Asian cultures, languages, and practices so that they can effectively work together to solve the challenges of tomorrow.

Why Study Abroad in Asia?

www.asialearn.org/destinations

“Studying Abroad is so important because you really experience the world. Otherwise you would never know anything but your own culture, and its fun to live in different places that you’re not used to. I never regretted my decision to study abroad at any moment, and I became friends with people from all over the world. There will never be another chance like this, and I’m so happy that I decided to study in Asia.”

–A. Ozaki, Mahidol UniversityIllinois Wesleyan University

Comprehensive: We care about both your academic and personal success while abroad. We are focused on helping you attain your personal goals as part of your discovery process while abroad which is why our longer term study abroad programs all offer a Bridging Cultures Program (in-country) to help you adjust and gain the most from your independent experience. We encourage volunteerism in all of our programs, and our North American and overseas teams work to provide you with pathways to discover all that you can personally, academically, professionally, culturally, and socially.

Students are our work, our passion, and our obligation. We are a trusted partner in international education because of how we do our work each and every day.

How Do We Create the Best Program for You?We offer an integrated direct learning model whereby you are able to live and learn abroad directly integrated into the culture and academic environment. This is true for semester/year abroad programs, internships, research programs, degrees, and some short-term study programs. We start with:

The Right Partners Abroad • – We choose the right international partners who have excellent academic reputations, extensive student services, and a track record of supporting study abroad students.

Off the Beaten Path Locations• – We choose sites for their cultural and learning value. For semester programs, this means we opt for direct enrollment models in most of our university locations so that you can live and study alongside locals and obtain a constant connection to the culture and people. Internships and short-term programs utilize unique sites and locations outside the tourist scene.

A Shared World View• – Our organization and its partners are committed to a GREENER world. From our own in-office practices to those of our campus partners overseas, we are making a difference.

Making the Academic Match• – We offer programs in every academic major. Credit bearing programs all have standards of entry, and we help students achieve strong academic results while abroad.

Focus on Affordability• – We work with partners to package the right options with low costs and provide more than $600,000 in scholarships and thousands more in financial aid transfer. We manage exchange rates and control costs so that we can keep costs low for you.

What Will you Discover? What Will You Discover?Your study abroad experience is all about you! Although you may see some of the same sights or take some of the same classes as other students, only you can discover all that your experience has to offer. After all, only you can feel the excitement, experience the fun, and face the challenges that will shape you into an individual with a broader understanding of the world and yourself. Ask any of your friends who have been abroad and they will tell you that you come back a changed person, but each individual changes in his or her own way.

GlobaLinks Learning Abroad is here to help you reach your goals. The design of our programs, along with the support of our U.S. and overseas staff, offer you the unique advantage of discovering yourself in all the ways that you never imagined possible.

Personal DiscoveryYour study abroad experience will excite, challenge, and push you to learn more about yourself in the process. Students report increased confidence, greater self-dependence, and a broadened world perspective as only a few of the new traits that study abroad provided them. While you are abroad, you can pursue your favorite activities in new surroundings and explore new sports, hobbies, and travels that allow you to have a unique personal experience.

Academic Discovery

Study abroad is first and foremost about your studies. We’ll assist you with class selection and encourage you to take classes you can’t take at home, utilize our academic support, and engage with professors in new ways. You are sure to deepen your understanding of your field of study.

Cultural Discovery

You’ll begin your cultural discovery prior to departure as you review your participant guide and undertake the Global Citizen Development online modules. Once abroad, we will introduce you to the local culture through the Bridging Cultures Program and invite you to various cultural events throughout the semester. Our planned activities are designed to expand your understanding of the culture while having fun and enjoying the company of other students.

Social DiscoveryA large part of the enjoyment of study abroad are the friends that you meet. Not only do we connect you with other students prior to departure via Facebook groups, we will also give you several opportunities to get together throughout the semester with other study abroad students - starting with the Bridging Cultures Program and ending with an end-of-semester dinner. We will also provide you with opportunities to meet locals and interact in a variety of ways with the community.

Professional Discovery

Our staff will provide you with a list of ideas for how to further your professional interests and goals while abroad, and upon your return, we will provide you with information through our EnCompass Alumni Program on ways to apply your experience to your future career.

Bridging Cultures program Travel and TripsAsiaLearn’s Travel Partner STA Travel is the world’s largest student travel organization helping students travel in over 90 countries. With many offices located across the globe, STA will be easily accessible while abroad. They offer real value and flexibility, as well as genuine advice and first-hand experience. They are dedicated to providing young people with products and services that make travel fun, affordable, and safe.

International AirfareAirfare prices can vary dramatically throughout the year. Because of this, AsiaLearn has selected to not offer group flights for semester and summer students, and does not package international airfare

in the program fees. You will be given all necessary information to book the airline ticket that works best for your travel and budget requirements. All students must be at the Bridging Cultures Program by a specific date, so be sure to speak with your coordinator prior to making any airline arrangements.

Excursions During Your Time AbroadAsiaLearn and STA Travel offer you the opportunity

to travel on a variety of exciting and adventurous trips during your study abroad program. Whether you want to trek through the hills surrounding

Chiang Mai, discover the wonders of China, roam through Cambodia, experience Bali from the south to

the north, or see wildlife in Nepal, STA travel has an excursion for you.

Go to www.asialearn.org/trips to learn more about day, weekend, and week-long tours around Asia. These trips and travel opportunities provide the ultimate flexibility for you to travel where you want to go, when you want go, how long you want to go for, and with whom you want to go. Most trips have open dates, so you can pre-book the trip(s) that interest you, yet choose your preferred dates later on in your semester. This flexibility also means friends you make from other countries/programs or even your friends and family that are visiting you abroad can also participate.

Weekend and Fall/Spring Break AdventuresStudy hard during the academic sessions and then take an exciting weekend (or longer) away. Choose from some of our Weekend and Fall/Spring Break Adventures and book during your pre-departure process (additional fees apply.):

Choose from destinations and activities like: Thai Island Hopping•Bali Adventure•Siem Reap Adventure (Cambodia)•China Express•Discover Japan•

Other Travel OpportunitiesMany universities or local travel agencies offer affordable trips organized specifically for visiting international students. Trips vary from day excursions to 10-day adventures. Upon arrival visit the International Office at your Host University for more information.

“I travelled at every opportunity, touring more than 10 countries throughout the semester, without neglecting my studies. Looking back, I believe I can say I did just about everything I could in those six months, and I will certainly be back in the future.”

Cultural Integration AbroadGetting involved abroad can enable you to meet local students, make a meaningful connection with your campus and community, and enhance your study abroad experience. It is important for you to discover the right combination of academic, cultural, and leisure activities to take full advantage of the opportunities for international learning and cultural immersion. There are various opportunities to more fully immerse into the culture by joining clubs, sporting groups, or student associations, and by participating in locally arranged cultural excursions in the area. Our staff will help you discover the best study abroad experience possible by assisting you to take advantage of:

Travel and Excursions: • Your host university might offer student trips and excursions. AsiaLearn Resident Coordinators can help with ideas and logistics of traveling as well.

Language Development:• We encourage participants to include study of the host country language in their academic plan. You will find plenty of opportunity to practice your language skills in and out of the classroom.

On-site Resident Coordinators: • Available 24 hours a day, our on-site Resident Coordinators are available to help you with any cultural integration interests or concerns.

Guaranteed Pre-arranged Housing: • Your housing may provide opportunities to meet other residents through socials, movie nights, or meet-ups.

Community Involvement OpportunitiesWhile integrating yourself on campus is important,

you may have other interests that you would like to pursue while in Asia. With the help of our university partners we have compiled information detailing

ways you can get involved in your local community while abroad. To view the community involvement

information for every university we offer visit: www.asialearn.org/CommunityInvolvement

Volunteer OpportunitiesAsiaLearn students are encouraged to participate in

volunteer activities at or near their campus abroad. Service learning is an integral piece of a fully-rounded education, and we support students’ efforts

to integrate into the local culture through volunteer activities. Students will be provided with information

on volunteer opportunities on campus or within the local community during the orientation and preparation process.

Buddy ProgramAs an AsiaLearn participant you will not only have the support of our amazing team but you will also have an instant friend once you arrive through the buddy program. In most of the locations we work, you have the oppportunity to be paired up with a local student. These buddies are there to just hang out with or to help you with everything from learning the best spot close to campus for lunch to helping you develop your language skills.

Activities students have done with their buddies in the past include (these are subject to change):

Visiting areas of cultural interest •Meeting up for lunch•Going to the movies•Shopping•Exploring local night life•

See the chart on page 21 for a list of universities with this option.

“I love my buddy! We eat lunch together every Monday! This semester our buddies even take us to places, like palaces and such, and last week we went to to Insa-dong and that was really great! The buddies have been nothing but great!”

“My study abroad experience was very enlightening to large extent. Through classes, clubs, and campus events I’ve had the opportunity to socialize with people from all over the world. I soon found out that I was not only experiencing the Korea University culture, but also the cultures of the countries from each international student.”

Campus InvolvementAs an AsiaLearn student, you will be directly enrolled as a student in the university abroad. This allows you to take advantage of every opportunity to be culturally integrated in the campus environment and culture by participating in university activities with resident students as well as other international students.

On-Campus Facilities: All campus services and facilities normally available to local students will be available to you. Services at each university include academic assistance, personal counseling, health-related aid, religious services, overseas student advising, legal aid, and student government. Our staff works closely with the host university international staff to support any emergency needs of a student 24 hours per day.

Clubs and ActivitiesAs a full time student on campus you are welcome to join many of the campus clubs and activities offered through student organizations. These organizations include academic clubs, intramural sports teams, martial arts, cultural specific organizations, activism organizations, theater, politics, and photography. These organizations are an excellent way to gain a global perspective on something you are already passionate about or to simply learn something new!

SocializingYou may be wondering how socializing with your new friends in Asia will differ from that in the United States or Canada. Well we are here to tell you it is not that much different! Across the globe students like to go out and have fun when their studies are done. You can expect to meet up with your new friends at local restaurants, cafes, and shops. However you may have heard some rumors about how popular karaoke is in Asia, be prepared… everything you have heard (plus more) is true! Karaoke is a popular past time in Asia and your study abroad experience will not be complete without giving it a go.

Guaranteed Housing AsiaLearn provides guaranteed prearranged

accommodation at all of our university locations. Residential Halls are the most common option and can be a good place to meet local students and learn

about campus life, while prearranged off-campus accommodation may allow for a more independent

lifestyle and view of the local way of life.

Accommodation may be co-ed or single sex. Students may be charged for telephone usage, TV rental, internet connection and usage, extra nights of accommodation, and other miscellaneous items. Student rooms are allocated based upon the date of initial payment and submission of your housing form.

See each program page in this guide for specific information on the accommodation options at each institution.

Most universities do not offer a meal plan; however, the majority of residence halls offer shared kitchens for students to use and/or nearby cafeterias/restaurants.

In private off-campus accommodation, you will share living space and kitchen facilities with other students and may have a shared or single room, depending on availability.

Housing deposits are also included in the program fees and are refunded after the program concludes. Staff from the accommodation will inspect the room for damages. Payment for any damages will come out of the housing deposit before it is returned.

While AsiaLearn offers guaranteed pre-arranged housing options, you may choose to locate accommodation near the university on your own. This option is only suggested for those students who have friends or family in the immediate area, and plan to live with them during their time abroad. Locating and signing a short-term lease for an apartment in Asia can prove to be extremely difficult and is not recommended.

Guaranteed housing

“I am very satisfied with the rooms here – they are bigger, cleaner, better furnished, and in much better condition overall than the dorms of my home university. The location is good too, with only a bridge and stairs separating us from the campus.”

– N. Carlson, APUGeorgetown University

What have you been doing in China during your visits? On a daily basis, I wake up and my new mom fixes us a breakfast which is totally different from anything that I have ever eaten in America. We then go out into the city to find something to do with our friends whether it is going to an internet café, going to the arcade, singing a song at KTV, or just sitting down somewhere to have tea and play Mahjong.

Some other interesting things that I have done while I have been in China are attending a Chinese wedding, going to the World Expo in Shanghai, visiting the Great Wall and Tiananmen Square, trying all different kinds of foods, and many other things.

Why did you decide to go to China?I decided to come to China because I am studying Mandarin Chinese and Asian Studies is one of my majors in school. I thought that I should visit China before I really decided this is where I wanted to spend a major part of my life. My other major is International Business and being that China has one of the fastest growing economies, I thought that it would be interesting to see how the country operated.

No Prior Language Skill RequiredPrior language skill is not a requirement for study abroad on AsiaLearn programs; however, cultural learning is at the heart of our program philosophy. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to enroll in language classes prior to studying abroad and during your semester in Asia in order to experience a deeper connection with the people and the country. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced language classes are available in each country. AsiaLearn recommends that you combine classes in your major with language instruction and Asian studies to establish a well-rounded academic program that maximizes your learning opportunities.

Online Language LearningAlthough English is a commonly spoken language in many of AsiaLearn’s program destinations, we emphasize the need for basic communication in the host language. As you prepare to embark on an incredible study abroad journey in Asia, AsiaLearn will encourage you to use an online Language Learning program to help you gain some basic language skills or brush up on your current skills. Communicating with locals in their native language, or at least giving it a try, will truly help enhance your cultural experiences and will help you gain the respect of locals as you show more interest in their language/culture and make attempts to integrate into the society that will be hosting you. We will also provide you with a Lonely Planet Phrase Book to take with you and learn the basics.

“I went to a part of the world I knew almost nothing about. I gained much cultural awareness, language skills and life long contacts that I am sure will help me in the future. I now know there is a whole world I can go to in order to find employment, and thanks to my semester abroad I have the skills and contacts to make it a reality.”

- J. Cohen, University of Hong Kong, Brandeis University

“I spent the Mid-Autumn Festival day with my good friend Zhang Wenwen and her family. We ate a traditional Sichuanese dinner, I practiced Chinese and she practiced English, and she taught me how to play Mahjong. My favorite part of the Moon Festival celebration was seeing all the lanterns in the sky at night. I have never seen anything like it. “

Academic SupportAcademics are #1 with AsiaLearn. Our semester/year abroad direct enrollment programs in Asia allow you to take classes applicable to your degree program so that you can continue your academic progress while studying abroad. As an AsiaLearn participant, you will work with your personal coordinator to select classes prior to departure as well as ensure course pre-approval and transfer of credits upon your return. No aspect of your academic plan will be overlooked.

Choosing the Best University for YOUSelecting the “best university” at which to study in Asia is about choosing the best option for YOU based on your academic needs, cost, location, and activities outside of the classroom. AsiaLearn is happy to help you with this decision making process! AsiaLearn partners with top quality universities, so your educational experience will be high regardless of the institution you choose, thus other factors should be considered in your decision making process. A great place to begin your research is on the AsiaLearn website: www.asialearn.org/search or call a coordinator today at 1-800-980-0033.

Educational DifferencesThe style and delivery of education will be different to what you experience at your home university, so it is best to go abroad with no expectations or assumptions of similarities between the two institutions. Some classes will likely include a combination of lectures, tutorials (small group sessions), laboratory work, seminars, and recommended self study.

One significant difference that students may notice is the teacher-centered, structured environment where classroom discussion, debate, and questioning are often discouraged. This may come as a surprise to those accustomed to learning in a student-centered environment where class participation and critical thinking are expected and encouraged. Many universities will require a significant amount of independent study with only 1 or 2 exams during the term. It is not uncommon for a large percentage of the grade to be based on the final exam, and your grade may also be assigned in relation to the performance of your peers. Subjects instructed in English will be tailored to an internationally diverse group of students.

Academic CalendarUniversities across Asia operate on a variety of academic calendars that often differ from what is customary in the U.S. and Canada. Some of the universities such as James Cook University, Singapore and Mahidol University in Thailand operate on a trimester system. Other universities operate on a semester system where start and end dates may overlap with your home university’s spring term. For example, in Japan, Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU), has semesters that run from March-August and September-February.

Please take a careful look at the program dates (page 25) to identify the study abroad term(s) that coordinate best for you.

Academics

University of record - University of Minnesota, Twin Cities AsiaLearn is pleased to have partnered with the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities such that UMN can act as the School of Record for all AsiaLearn semester and year abroad programs. This partnership allows UMN to evaluate individual subjects taken at AsiaLearn partner universities overseas and ensure the academic rigor and compatibility with educational standards as defined by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI). All students will receive a transcript from the foreign institution attended. However, students who require a transcript from a university with U.S. accreditation can obtain an official transcript from the University of Minnesota for their program abroad through this agreement (additional $350 fee will apply). Students who request a School of Record transcript will be temporarily admitted as non-degree seeking students at the University of Minnesota. The University of Minnesota is solely responsible to evaluate coursework on the host university transcript, determine grade and credit conversions, and issue a University of Minnesota transcript with overseas coursework listed as resident credit.

Academic Enrollment and Credit Transfer

Universities in Asia offer similar degree programs as universities in the U.S. or Canada. This makes it easy to take classes that will transfer back to your school to be counted as credits towards graduation.

This subject guide indicates the English-taught classes in the various academic areas listed, according

to the university. To view course descriptions available at a specific university, go to www.asialearn.org/subjects.

Name: Cyrene QuiamcoHome University: University of Arkansas-Little RockWhere did you look for funding options?I spent hours doing research to find money for my study abroad program. I’m a college student living at home with a single mother supporting two children, and I have no job. If I was going to study abroad, I needed to find free money.

Google was really helpful. My study abroad coordinator also provided some links to scholarships. I probably applied to around 5-10 scholarships. I got several denial letters, but eventually I received great news - I got the Gilman Scholarship!

The Gilman paid nearly all the expenses, but I still needed to scrape a little more money for my airfare. I talked with my university’s study abroad coordinator and she told me that I can receive summer PELL grants that can be applied to my study abroad program. I applied and I did receive the grants.

I also received great news that AsiaLearn awarded me an extra $500 as a supplement for being a Gilman Scholar.

About ChinaChina is a country with an ancient history, a brilliant civilization, and beautiful landscapes. China is often touted as having one of the world’s oldest surviving civilizations whose people have shared a common culture for 5,000 years. Philosophers, emperors, foreign conquerors, political leaders, and civil war have all left their marks on China’s colorful history, but the culture has endured. Over 30 sites in China are now World Heritage listed and protected. They include ancient architectural complexes and a number of historical relics, forming an important basis for the study of China’s ancient culture and history.

In recent years, China has emerged from isolation and captured the attention of the world by accomplishing astonishing technical achievements and driving their economy at a dazzling pace. The blending of ancient traditions, technological advancement, economic reform, and government control is creating a new China that cannot be categorized in conventional ways.

About Hong KongBeing an international financial center with the world’s freest economy, Hong Kong is Asia’s most globally connected city. The central business district makes up one of the world’s most beautiful skylines, and with a closer look, you can see colonial buildings and modern architecture competing for space and attention. It is a densely populated city, but with over 60% of the land left undeveloped, Hong Kong offers a wide range of outlets for recreation, relaxation, and exploration in the great outdoors. Its excellent transportation system makes it easy to travel in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and is the primary gateway to mainland China. It is situated at the southern coast of mainland China and is within four hours of all major Asian cities and resorts. Born of a fusion from ancient Chinese heritage and a long period of Western influence, this small region is a cross-cultural and diversified city where English and Chinese, tai chi and soccer, towering skyscrapers and historical sites all exist side by side. Here lies the bridge between the East and the West.

About South KoreaKorea has a 5,000 year history, with the first capital city (named Joseon, meaning Land of the Morning Calm) created in 2333 B.C. For five millennia, Korea has withstood the influences and invasions of neighboring countries and preserved its heritage, language, and ethnic homogeneity. Throughout its history, Korea has excelled in science and technological advances, developing the world’s most scientific alphabet, the world’s first ironclad warship, the first metal typeset book, and the first udometer. Today, Korea is better known for its cutting edge technology. The people of Korea are also great lovers of nature, and in a country so green and mountainous, many enjoy spending time in the outdoors.

About SeoulSeoul is one of the largest and fastest growing cities in the world geographically, economically, and technologically. It is a city attempting to hold on to its traditional roots while immerging as a global economic power house. The two competing worlds can be seen through the many festivals celebrating everything from the Lunar Calendar, Kimchi, Buddha, and Hip Hop.

internships in Shanghai and hong KongThe ProgramGlobaLinks Learning Abroad offers a unique opportunity for a top-rated internship experience in Shanghai, China and Hong Kong (also available throughout Australia and New Zealand). This unique opportunity can be undertaken on its own or as an add-on to another program. Internships are designed for individuals looking to learn new skills and gain practical knowledge in their field of study in order to facilitate career development.

These unpaid internships provide greater professional experience than many domestic opportunities because interns are exposed to a wider variety of job duties than just sorting mail and making coffee. We ensure that you will receive valuable professional training at your internship site. Living in a foreign country immersed in a new culture further strengthens your resume by providing you with skills such as adaptability, problem solving, independence, cross-cultural communication, and critical thinking. We custom-build internships to meet your needs and bring our experience to ensure a great internship experience.

Internship Placements Available in Every FieldWe offer internships in every field. We have offered over 250 different placements in the past, and we continue to add new placements to meet interns’ needs. You can view many of our past placements at www.globalinksabroad.org/placements. If you do not see your ideal internship there, just let us know and we can go find a new organization to meet your needs. During the application process, you will write a cover letter detailing what kind of company you would like to work for and the kind of job tasks you are looking to undertake. We will then work one-on-one with you to try to determine the best internship opportunities for your goals. This personalized process ensures that your internship experience will be a valuable asset in your upcoming career.

HousingHousing is pre-arranged for interns prior to arrival and the housing cost is included in your program fee (meals not included). You will live in a homeshare, shared apartment, or studio that is close to public transportation to make the commute to your internship site convenient.

Our main goal is to provide safe, clean, affordable housing in a convenient location for your internship program. Your housing will be either a single room in a shared apartment or your own studio apartment. Housing is completely dependent upon the availability during the dates of your internship.

Please keep in mind that housing standards vary across the globe. You should not expect your housing in any internship location to be exactly the same as what you are accustomed to at home. In many locations, it is far more common to have smaller apartments and rooms than what you may be used to. In Hong Kong and Shanghai in particular, apartments may be much smaller than that to which you are accustomed. Also, remember that transportation costs are additional and that transportation times may vary. You may be living with other interns with a longer or shorter commute than you. Please know that we will try our best to make all commutes as short as possible.

Language Access for all Program TypesOur Shanghai and Hong Kong internships are conducted in English (and Australia and New Zealand are each native English-speaking destinations), thus language will not be a barrier regardless of your destination. However, to help you integrate into the local culture, internships in Shanghai and Hong Kong also include Mandarin language lessons.

Bridging Cultures ProgramLike our semester/year programs in Asia, our PDAC and PDNC internship programs begin with a multi-day Bridging Cultures Program on-site. This allows students to become accustomed to the country through fun excursions and orientation session as well as meet other students who will be in the area also interning during the same time period. Custom Date Internship participants are provided with a one-on-one orientation via phone prior to departure.

“My internship experience helped shape my character and open doors for my future career path. I gained insight into how business works in different cultures, which has given me confidence in my ability to work well with people from different backgrounds and life experiences. My internship was truly hands-on. I felt that the work I did was integral to the organization’s success. I was able to write press releases (one of which was published), develop marketing and sponsorship tactics and assist in all aspects of planning a national university sporting event.”

- K. Arntz – PR Intern

“I feel like without this internship I wouldn’t be the person I am now. Though it may seem difficult to believe that someone has changed or grown so much in so little a time I feel like I have. I have confidence in myself that I never had before I came over here, and skills that I couldn’t hope to develop, both personally and professionally, without interning.”
