Your Role as LCIF Coordinator

Position Description 12 Be an ambassador for LCIF in your district or multiple district Chosen for leadership ability and commitment to humanitarian service Nominated by LCIF Steering Committee member Appointed for a multi-year term by the LCIF Chairperson Help create a stronger LCIF Join a worldwide network of 900+ volunteer coordinators Report directly to the LCIF Steering Committee

Roles and Responsibilities 1.LCIF Education and Promotion a.Give LCIF presentations at club meetings, zone/region/district events, etc. b.Promote LCIF through media c.Educate Lions on grants, impact of LCIF, programs, new initiatives, etc. d.Collect photos and stories from LCIF-supported events and share with headquarters staff for global promotion 2.LCIF Fundraising a.Encourage Lions and clubs to give to LCIF annually b.Identify potential donors c.Assist with the submitting of funds and LCIF recognition applications 3.MDCs: Lead your District Team a.Recruit District LCIF Coordinators for a multi-year term b.Train the coordinators through webinars or face to face training sessions c.Lead your LCIF Coordinator Team with regular communication, updates and assistance 13

Roles and Responsibilities LCIF Coordinators role is critical for the long-term health of our international foundation: 1.LCIF Education and Promotion When Lions learn about the impact of their donations on peoples lives, both close to home and abroad, they are more likely to give and see their support of LCIF as an extension of their service. 2.LCIF Fundraising Each year, more Lions address greater needs in their communities by seeking help from LCIF. By increasing the contributions collected each year, LCIF can respond to these needs effectively. 3.MDCs: Lead your District Team Regular communication between MDCs and DCs helps to maintain focus on education, promotion, and fundraising throughout the year and multiplies the capacity of LCIF staff to support local efforts. 14

Use the Donation Reports Reports sent by email each month: MJF Listing: Lists all named Melvin Jones Fellows by district since the program started. Includes non- Lions. Status of Installments (next slide): Lists all unconsumed MJF recognition credits from individuals and clubs. Recap of Donations (slide after next): Lists all donations by individual (individual names withheld), club, district and multiple district Club Health Report: Includes current status of all clubs in the district and shows cumulative giving in the district Reports available on request: Measles Donations: Lists measles donations by MD, District and Club CSFII Funds Raised: Lists all commitments and the funds raised to date to meet that commitment 25

Encourage Melvin Jones Fellowships Status of Installments Report MJF Credit Balances: Individuals or clubs that are close to US$1,000 - encourage them to top up donations in order to name an MJF or PMJF Challenge the clubs to donate the funds in order to recognize at least one new MJF this year 75% of donations to LCIF are through the MJF program MJFs and PMJFs may be paid in installments over time Encourage Lions to become MJFs or award an MJF to a fellow Lion or member of the community Encourage MJFs to become PMJFs + $487.50 = $1,000

Areas of Giving There are four Areas of Giving from which to choose when making a contribution. Donations within these four general areas are eligible for Melvin Jones Fellowship recognition More specific donations within these areas will be honored by LCIF but will not be eligible for MJF recognition (i.e. donations for Special Olympics Opening Eyes, SightFirst, Lions Quest, etc.) The Measles Initiative under Humanitarian Needs is MJF eligible 29 Area of Greatest Need Humani- tarian Needs YouthSightDisaster

Submitting Donation Forms If sending only a check, the area of giving or designation should be written in the notes section Submit MJF application online only if $1,000 is already in the club/individuals account (can find this out through the Status of Installments report) Must submit an MJF application with the final donation. Recognition will be issued when the donation is received in full as well as the donor name, recipient name and ship to information is received There are individual Contributing Member forms and a multiple CM form that can be submitted with those donations If no information is sent with a donation, district will receive recognition for the donation and the MJF credits Missing donations or recognitions, contact [email protected]@lionsclubs.org 30
