How we got started

• Meet local InVEST State Champion• Find current InVEST schools• Volunteer in those schools

Starting new programs

• Locate high schools and community colleges in your area

• Develop a relationship with school partnership development liaisons (career & technical education)

• Volunteer at a career day• Promote InVEST program

Hosting an InVEST Fundraising• Purpose of event: to raise money for

scholarships, increase awareness of InVEST and recruit volunteers

• Choose a location to host a benefit/silent auction for funds for your local InVEST scholarship fund

• Host event in August when teachers are on vacation

• Begin promotion in January

Hosting an InVEST Fundraising

• Contact people in your network to help host the event– family, association members, companies

• Collect items from network to auction at the event– Baseball tickets, gift cards are always hits

Who should attend?

• Insurance and education professionals• Waive fee for education professionals• Offer sponsorships to companies and vendors• Invite representatives from other education

foundations with similar missions– mentor and after school programs
