Structural and Behavioural Adaptations

Structural adaptations are physical features of an organism like the bill on a bird or the fur on a bear.

Behavioural adaptations are the things organisms do to survive. For example, bird calls and migration are behavioural adaptations.

Assignment : Create your own Assignment : Create your own Creature Creature

Invent a creature that doesn’t exist, but that lives

in a desert. (hot, little water, getting enough food to

eat is difficult)

Decide where it lives, what it eats,

Give it the adaptations that it needs to live.

fur feathers eyes markings claws spines hard shell long legs mouth parts bright markings teeth wings flippers

Assignment: Create your own creature

Draw and name the creature Point out what the important feature and how

it helps the creature to survive

(eg. Big ears – to reduce heat loss)
