JOURNEY 117Journey 117, a ministry of World Orphans, exists to encourage, equip and empower individuals to be lifelong orphan advocates in response to God's command to defend the oppressed and to take up the cause of the fatherless.

Jour-ney 117 [jur-nee wuhn sev-uhn-teen]–noun

1. a passage from one place to another to discover areas of injustice in the world as it relates to the orphan;

2. the seeking of tangible and relevant ways to encourage, defend and help the fatherless, oppressed and widow;

3. a traveling toward the heart of creator God who calls His children to stop being passive and learn to live for justice.

Join Journey 117 to help facilitate a week-long orphan outreach camp in China. Trip DetailsWhat is a Journey trip?A Journey trip is an opportunity for you to learn, experience and grow. An essential part of the Journey is to learn more about God’s heart for the orphan, widow and outcast. You will be led through a discipleship process prior to and during your Journey trip that will open your eyes to the crisis around the world and teach you what God has called us as the church to do in response.

Our goal at Journey 117 is to equip you to live out the rest of your days as an advocate. When your Journey trip is over, it’s not really over….it’s only the beginning of YOUR journey. What you decide to do with the knowledge, compassion and experience is up to you. Our prayer is that you will walk away with a clear understanding of the verbs of Isaiah 1:17 and put those into action for the rest of your days: LEARN, SEEK, HELP, DEFEND, FIGHT.

How many team members will be chosen?Approximately 6-8 people are required to serve on this team. We are looking for people with specific gifts and abilities to allow us to run the camp effectively. We need individuals with camp experience, ESL experience or training, arts and crafting skills, sports and recreational abilities, as well as teaching experience. If you have any of these skill sets, please feel free to apply for this team.

How much does the trip cost?The trip will be approximately $3,500 per person depending on airfare.

China has one of the largest orphan populations in the world. Many of these children are

abandoned due to physical disabilities, because of China's harsh one-child policy or simply

because they are girls. Although the "church" is not able to have a physical presence, our

network partner is reaching out to these precious ones to provide hope. They are specifically

responding and caring for orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children through education, vocational

training, and a home for children.
