New DevelopmentWe are now able to track historical giving for all donors. We will now know when anyone meets
the $5,000 donation level!
Through 12/31/2012 - 138 names on the wall
Charitable Trusts & Bequests from Estates
A few individuals and a couple of Lodges
Currently three (3) pledges of $5,000
Since January 1, 2007: $8,249,871
When it’s in your Will the Florida Elks get paid!
Named after Harry & Anna Miller - Harry was a member of Eustis Lodge # 1578 - Donated a hotel in Umatilla to FSEA which became Harry-Anna Crippled Children’s Home HATF begun in 1949 with $80,000 to establish a perpetual funding source for the State’s Major Project
It was once thought if we could get $1 million in the HATF we wouldn’t need another penny!
The HATF allows us to support “two” first-class Major Projects and has made the FSEA the envy of every state and Elks project in the country!
Harry-Anna Trust Fund
It has been often said that there is plenty of money in the Harry-Anna
Trust Fund. Why are we continually asked to send more?
Ever heard it?Ever thought it?
Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?
Understand that money donated to the Trust Fund is never touched, never spent. Only the income derived from the investment of the Trust Fund money is available to spend…
When you hear the reported the value of the Trust Fund, that is the amount of money we have to invest, not spend.
Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?
Due to growth and expansion of our Major Projects and the increasing costs to operate them, our income from the investment of the Harry-Anna Trust Fund MUST continue to grow.
How? This is done through the prudent and responsible investment by our Investment Advisors and Investors. This is always helped when the amount of funds to invest also grows.
Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?
Reason # 1
Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?
Reason # 2
Any monies earned from the investment of the Trust Fund that are not spent by or on the projects is deposited into a reserve fund within the Trust Fund.
It is these monies that are used when we need to fund capital expansions & purchases such as:•The Grafton Center•Real Estate Surrounding the No Name Lake at the Youth Camp•The Rough Camping Area Shelter/Pavilion•The New Swimming Pool (C. Valentine Bates Aquatic Center)
This much better than loans or capital
fundraising campaigns
Putting Our DonationsInto Perspective!
In an average year our members donate just over $800,000 in new money into the Harry-Anna Trust
Fund
Member Donations to HATF
Putting Our DonationsInto Perspective!
That is about 15% of our total operating budgets for our projects!
That is a little over $13 per member.
That is an amount we have never had to ask you to increase.
This is a small amount to pay to be able to say that you helped or that you made a difference.
Are we really ready to say Enough is Enough?
Harry-Anna Gives Back
For many years now, Harry-Anna has offered a $1,000 to each Lodge, annually, in the form of a grant back to your Charity Fund, $0.50 for every dollar spent by your Lodge on charitable type activities.
Each year a number of Lodges fail to complete the 5-minute online application and do not receive this money!
The Lodge Secretaries were given yesterday, a list of those Lodges who have not yet applied!
This might be the easiest money you will get all year for your Charity Fund!
Harry-Anna Gives Back
How about a Bus Trip to the Youth Camp?
• Up to $1,000 per Lodge• Minimum of 40 people • 40 must include the ER, Leading Knight, Lodge Harry-Anna Chair,
Lodge Membership Chair, & the Chairman of the Lodge Trustees or BODs
• The hope is that the balance are new members or current members who have never visited the FL Elks Youth Camp
• Lodges may join with other Lodges in the district to fill the bus however each participating Lodge must still send the required five (5) officers
• Lodges located over 350 miles from the camp may also receive complimentary overnight accommodation in the cabins
• Funds will be only be dispersed to the Lodge after the camp visit• Lodges who receive funds for the visit may then apply for
additional funding to support transportation needs for getting kids to summer camp or other special children’s programs the Lodge might fund for young people
