The official fundraising entity of the FSEA

Registered with the state of Florida to solicit contributions from the public and to work with professional fundraising consultants.

Entertains and implements fundraising ideas from members and others

The net of all funds raised by the FEC is used for the operation of our two major projects unless raised for another specific cause (i.e. Army of Hope)

Florida Elks Charities (FEC)

Page 10: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

Named after Harry & Anna Miller - Harry was a member of Eustis Lodge # 1578 - Donated a hotel in Umatilla to FSEA which became Harry-Anna Crippled Children’s Home HATF begun in 1949 with $80,000 to establish a perpetual funding source for the State’s Major Project

It was once thought if we could get $1 million in the HATF we wouldn’t need another penny!

The HATF allows us to support “two” first-class Major Projects and has made the FSEA the envy of every state and Elks project in the country!

Harry-Anna Trust Fund

Page 11: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

It has been often said that there is plenty of money in the Harry-Anna

Trust Fund. Why are we continually asked to send more?

Ever heard it?Ever thought it?

Page 12: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?

Understand that money donated to the Trust Fund is never touched, never spent. Only the income derived from the investment of the Trust Fund money is available to spend…

When you hear the reported the value of the Trust Fund, that is the amount of money we have to invest, not spend.

Page 13: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?

Page 14: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

Due to growth and expansion of our Major Projects and the increasing costs to operate them, our income from the investment of the Harry-Anna Trust Fund MUST continue to grow.

How? This is done through the prudent and responsible investment by our Investment Advisors and Investors. This is always helped when the amount of funds to invest also grows.

Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?

Reason # 1

Page 15: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

Why Do We Continually SeekMore $$$ for the Trust Fund?

Reason # 2

Any monies earned from the investment of the Trust Fund that are not spent by or on the projects is deposited into a reserve fund within the Trust Fund.

It is these monies that are used when we need to fund capital expansions & purchases such as:•The Grafton Center•Real Estate Surrounding the No Name Lake at the Youth Camp•The Rough Camping Area Shelter/Pavilion•The New Swimming Pool (C. Valentine Bates Aquatic Center)

This much better than loans or capital

fundraising campaigns

Putting Our DonationsInto Perspective!

In an average year our members donate just over $800,000 in new money into the Harry-Anna Trust

Fund

Page 17: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

Member Donations to HATF

Page 18: 2013 Officer Training Seminar

Putting Our DonationsInto Perspective!

That is about 15% of our total operating budgets for our projects!

That is a little over $13 per member.

That is an amount we have never had to ask you to increase.

This is a small amount to pay to be able to say that you helped or that you made a difference.

Are we really ready to say Enough is Enough?

Harry-Anna Gives Back

For many years now, Harry-Anna has offered a $1,000 to each Lodge, annually, in the form of a grant back to your Charity Fund, $0.50 for every dollar spent by your Lodge on charitable type activities.

Each year a number of Lodges fail to complete the 5-minute online application and do not receive this money!

The Lodge Secretaries were given yesterday, a list of those Lodges who have not yet applied!

This might be the easiest money you will get all year for your Charity Fund!
